How about a blue post status update?
Is this realistic for 2019?
It seems like blizzard fails to realize how massive an impact team matchmaking would be. It’s beyond a game changer. It could potentially lead to a big increase in the player base, renewed interest in the game, more streaming, more tournaments, new team leagues, new map styles (fixed position maps), new team strategies for those maps.
Please stop prioritizing fluffy features like colors or anything graphics related.

totally agree it will be a massive point of interest and growth for the community but the safe thing is to have expectations controlled, particularly for “fixed positions” which i would also like to have included in TMM but has not been individually stated anywhere as far as i recall, at least no one has mentioned it for almost over a year that particular point. Dont be surprised if at release TMM has no fixed position included…
We need to wait for Blizzcon where they need to talk to us straight to the face directly, otherwise i am sure they will at least upload a new “Development Video” to at least calm our appetites for freedback, otherwise what the hell is wrong in here, i will burn this whole forum if they dont talk to us in a way that is relevant.
Again, i find your mention of “fixe positions” of the out most importance, people need to talk more about it, and i hope the DEVS have not forgotten about that massively important thing you just mentioned right now.
Also about map styles… as i said 2 years ago for the first time, i think is really important that they launch a “map contest” of some sort assuming they are indeed making Team Match Making a 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 thing. Lets calm down, and dont get your hopes up friend, everything points out that TMM will be a basic “iccup stule” ladder with just private rooms, which is more than fine, but i also dream of havin “north vs south” “east vs west” games in Broodwar.
Good job Blizzard on alienating a huge part of the playerbase.
How dumb do you have to be to not realize that there are a lot of people who would only play BW for the team games
And Artosis is like, yeah that makes sense, a feature that we have had for 15+ years, mysteriously missing after release for TWO FRICKING years, sure, understandable…
My dudes, it’s not understandable.

Yes. If Iccup had ranked decades ago. why couldn’t blizzard do it?

because blizzard is lazy and can’t express itself normally … it’s sad that such a huge company can’t do such a thing for its parent game.
The 2x2 community is big and would attract more players. at least try to express yourself

I suspect Blizzard developers underestimated the importance of the team matchmaking. It had to be implemented at the beginning. The real game is 1v1 sure, but if my intent is to bring as many people as possible into the game, well the team matchmaking would have done the job better. If you are part of a team community, somehow you become attached to the game probably more than you would have if you played only one on one. It’s also more approachable for beginners. Just an opinion though.

I believe the correct answer is 2025
So i hate this topic because i understand why the Team is falling behind and i feel this should have be delivered several months ago.
But i feel that because of the betterment of the GUI side of the code now with PTR it might mean they are ready to announce some changes to it, that is a 2v2 button for testing etc.
So GUI problems seem to be out of the way, now they can tackle other stuff i am sure at hearth they are working on. I still have faith.
I agree. I think with 2vs2 I would play more because instead 1vs1 I would have some other more experienced one to help me.

Where is it ?
IT is in the annual report of revenue, in the section “saved money”…
Hi developers. I know the request for 2v2 Ladder has always been there, but I just wanted to sincerely ask again to implement this new feature to SC: remastered.
Until about a year ago, I didn’t really play 2v2s, and I thought 1v1 was everything in SC. Turns out I’ve been missing out a lot! I learned so much about the intricacies of the game through 2v2, and gotten to love the game on a much deeper level. I have befriended many players who are so passionate about 2v2s, and I myself have hosted some mini 2v2 tournaments on many weekends. People really enjoyed it and all are waiting for the day the ladder is reinstated.
I know this may be a lot to ask for a game that seems to be stagnating to some people’s eyes, but by implementing 2v2 ladder, this game will definitely rise again through renewed interests in the game and the 2v2 format. More dedicated players will make 2v2 guides through streaming/video, and more will find that 2v2s are a new found gem. I am happy to be the contact person to share any updates with the SC:remastered community, and am willing to spend extra time broadcasting through streaming media if needed.
Thanks!
The issue with implementing team ladder 2vs2, 3vs3 and 4vs4 is the amount of work it needs. They would need to incorporate another option in Game Type to make sure each team will spawn in the correct positions for team games as currently Melee or Top vs Bottom only allows for random spawning on the map. This takes me to the next issue which is creating new team game maps because using Ladder maps like FS, Polypoid etc… is not optimal as they are designed for 1vs1 games. Custom maps like BGH and other money maps are not balanced for they favor Protoss over the other races, also these type of money maps are not good for Ladder games. New maps need to be created to spawn each team on one side just like SC2 team game maps are setup. Last they will need to update the Ladder options and make sure there is something in place so the best connections are picked to avoid laggy games.
So yeah, unless they have already started working on any of these then we have a long wait ahead of us.

Yes to all you said, i think i found a solution for the problem more than a year ago.

Ask the community to openly provide UMS Team Match Melee Maps, make a contest and make it a community thing for 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 or even FFA. UMS because instead of changing the engine you just use the UMS Tools
-
Instead of creating a whole new Ladder system you just use the classic Custom Room system (New Custom mode called: Team Rank Game), but this are rooms generated by the Server or Host (player manually though they are the same in reality because as soon as a host creates this game the server looks to see if there is another room already created by the server before with the same characteristics, you cannot create a TMM game with the same characteristics). You can join this rooms but then you can also search for traditional 1v1 RANK while waiting for this rooms to fill. Only one button called Team Match (For people that dont search on Custom games or HOST a TMM game), you press it and you jump into a room, it could be filled with 2 3 4 or 7 players etc, if you dont like the size or the people inside you can go play 1v1 or wait for the next room by pressing the Button again or create/host your own if it was not already created by the Server.
-
If the “Team Rank Game” was created for 2v2 as soon it is filled the START option will appear and not before, The host does not chose the map, the speed or any setting and the map is randomly selected once that button is created. Host can also “expand” the size of the room for 3v3 or 4v4 at any time, but when the room LAG become red a message will appear warning the HOST. Host can kick people and people can vote people out anonymously, this vote process has to be done by all people in the room, Though players with green Network status cannot be kicked or voted. Red status is determined not only by connection but by the “Connection stability history” (NOTE in Point 6 below)
-
This Rooms will also be available for people using the Free version with a “Quick Game” Button, they can also join the rooms. People with Remastered can mute them in the room, kick them or change them from teams as they wish. The people playinf the free version wont get Ladder points only a regular win or lose, they will get matched based on their Win/Lose ratio for non-remastered accounts. When the Host leaves the room for whatever reason the second oldest person in the room becomes the HOST.
-
You can invite a person into the room, but then if you invite someone the “RANK” level will change and only people of certain RANK can join, if someone tries to join a game above its rank it will warn them, if someone tries to join a game with RANK below themselves it will not allow them. People can vote anonymously if they want to open the room for Higher MMR . The calculation of this is always fair, but because of the size of player population right now most of the time people will end up accepting people of lower MMR or opening the room to higher MMR.
-
The games won or lose on the game take in consideration several facts like:
-
If ally leaves the game or starts attacking allied buldings (The lose points will be diminished and the points won for the winning team also)
-
If the game was played vs a Team with unbalanced MMR the points will be distributed accordingly (Encouraging playing vs stronger people also), meaning that you will NOT lose 30 points playing a team that is stronger. Yet if you win you will get crazy amount of points.
-
People that disconnect often or get low Turn Rate often (Whatever the reason is) will get a special invisible flag provided by Blizzard, and this will make their connection always red or orange in the Team Match making room (Making them able to get kicked by host or anyone in the room)
And i believe that this is important to note: People cannot create TMM official rooms that are private regardless of how much this feature is requested by people, Korean, Russians, Latinos and North Americans are the same.
There is a community of mapmakers, that already have made many maps, which can be used for these different games. Even as we speak today, there is still a thriving community that creates new maps of all kind. So that wouldnt be a problem at all.
For 2vs2 for instance there comes “iron curtain” into mind…

The only issue with using UMS settings is that games will not register a win or loss as Bnet always picks it up as a draw game. This is the reason why a new option is needed under Game Type which they can name as Team Game or something and that puts players in specified positions on the map. Without saying also needs to add record on your account for either win or loss for the game.
Overall I believe if they mimic the way SC2 does the team game Ladder then it should not be too much work for them.
Literally, and the reason why UMS will always take the game as DRAW could be easily fixable i believe, specially considering there is a still a flag about for eliminated Players.
They will also have to remove unit limit bug that is here fore decades … it’s a simple fix I pressume.
