Hi everyone. I realize that Blizzard is not paying any attention to this game anymore these days, and even extremely large problems go unresolved for weeks, but still I’m just going to document this for posterity.
On macOS 26 Tahoe, the latest stable version, Starcraft Remastered has a white outline even when playing in fullscreen mode or windowed fullscreen mode. Reproducible on any Mac with the latest OS on it.
This is almost certainly the same bug that has been reported for WoW: Tahoe 26 added a border to my borderless window? - Mac Technical Support - World of Warcraft Forums - apparently an mvp says “they are aware of it”, but these mvps are so extremely vague about anything technical and they’re not actually paid employees, so I don’t take that as fact at all.
It’s most likely an issue with how the fullscreen api is called. The white outline comes from the OS treating the program as a windowed app, which always have a shadow and outline for visibility. There’s probably some api call that used to be optional and is now mandatory, which the program isn’t calling.
Again I understand this will probably just never end up getting fixed. We still have the replay bug on Mac: Consistent, reproducible CPU spike bug on Mac + debug info - this one never even got so much as a reply from anyone even though it’s a real show stopper bug.
And more important issues for users of all OSes are still around as well. So I don’t expect this to be fixed.
If you’re on Mac, consider holding off on upgrading to macOS 26 for now if this bothers you.
