SCR crash on startup. Got crash code

SCR crashes at startup. Screen goes black as in going full screen then immediately follows with a crash report… Game wont launch once since I installed it on this laptop.

Choose any code you like  I tried reinstalling. checking for installation errors. Reinstalling GPU drivers. I do not have onedrive.

I am also having issues with it starting up. i hit play in the launcher and nothing happens until the error screen pops up with error codes. D76290BE-73D4-4857-BAA7-4308B21A228A

Same thing is happening here. I click play, the button says the game is running, and then I get the error message. One of the codes I have is D319A847-3C70-48C9-926E-F3221655E30C.

Hey there HugglesFB,

I looked into that error code and it looks to be the same cause as Blerg’s is. They had another forum thread and I replied that it looks like OneDrive’s syncing is causing an issue. Disabling the syncing for SCR’s folder in your Documents or even the whole Documents folder will help with this. Microsoft has information on how to do so here.

Hello there! looking to binge the starcraft story line like the good ole days and re installed,
Having the launch issue with multiple codes and I got rid of Onesync long ago due to issues like these, any other ideas? fully updated windows computer already tried turning off all firewalls etc, also my Nvidia 1080 is fully updated as well.

Please help, it’s been months since I played SCR for the last time :frowning:

Hey there, these are graphical errors that are leading to the crash. While the codes may look similar they are only used to pull up the full report on our side of things. Very different crash for sure.

To resolve a graphics related crash please try this:

  1. Disable background applications
  2. Reset the game settings to default values
  3. Use DDU to uninstall the graphics drivers then reinstall a fresh copy from the gpu website.

Let us know how things go. Cheers!

These crashes are due to required processes for the game not running when they should be. I’d run a full system scan for Malware (I normally suggest malwarebytes) then try disabling any related security software before opening the game. This will help ensure that both no harmful software is at play and that the security software is not blocking the wrong thing.

Let us know how it goes. Cheers!

Check the solution I mentioned to Leo above. The crash is very similar and the only difference in the solution is the drivers link for the graphics device.

Cheers!

Also crashing every single time I launch the game. I’ve removed and updated my video drivers several times and it hasn’t helped. I’ve tried all the various compatibility settings and nothing. This has been going on for almost 3 months now. Please fix it. It’s incredibly unprofessional to leave the game broken for months on end. I’m certain your crash reports have spiked.

Thanks for that crash code. I looked it up and it does look like One Drive is the culprit of this one. See if unsyncing the yourusername\OneDrive - Microsoft\Documents folder helps.

Hey. I’m having the same issue. Game crashed everytime I try to run. Error code:

OneDrive was definitely the problem. I had disabled it so it wasn’t running and StarCraft was crashing on every boot. After launching OneDrive StarCraft is launching again and is playable. Thank you!

I’m curious though, is it writing/reading files in my OneDrive folder? That’s the only reason I can think of why having OneDrive disabled would cause the game to crash. You would think that having it running would actually cause a problem, not the other way around.

Hi, it still not working. I can play steam games and SC2 but SC1 doesn’t work… SC1 is the only game I haven’t been able to play for months

The reason for that behaviour is most likely because disabling OneDrive changes the default Documents folder back to the local Documents folder. So from c:\users\user\onedrive\documents to c:\users\user\documents.

Remember that once OneDrive is enabled, there will be 2 different document folders, even if you disable OneDrive. Disabling or enabling OneDrive just tells Windows which folder it should be using by default.

So, when you turned off OneDrive, Windows started to point to the local Documents folder. That folder could be missing the Starcraft folder etc. All your new map downloads and replays save into the documents\starcraft folder automatically. One would think that the Starcraft program would re-create the required folder but entries in the Windows registry would also need to be updated (Windows should do that automatically).

Just a theory anyway. I agree that nomally enabling OneDrive causes issues because it locks files as it syncs them. Database files or files accessed by other programs should generally be kept outside of the OneDrive folder.

I have the same problem, pls help me with this code:
