Zerg is weak vs late game Air attacks

11 BC is kinda critical amount, and it was a TEAM GAME. Carriers would do the same… So my advice is “just dont let them get on 200/200 of tier 3”. It almost never happens in a 1vs1 game and the balance is focused mostly on 1vs1. Oh, sorry, I mean “bananalance” as the balance is worst than ever, but hey - its getting worse every patch…

But in general in a team game your other allies could do something against BC’s aswell, like vikings and tempests with you supporting them with corruptors and parasitic bomb.

EDIT:

Excuse me mr, are you the Cat from C&C?

Done, but my answers remains the same.

Thanks DukeNukem.

About C&C - no I do not play since 10 years now - and never played multiplayer, just local on my PC.
Yes we should not allow terran to go mass BC, but 11 is mid game , so not late game armada. And even then Zerg’s should have a way to counter. Not everyone can use Viper, and they abduct 2-3 then the Viper is shot down.
I did not see other way, Corruptors kind of weak vs them. Mutalisks not even get near.

We do not have all the time terran counter , and mostly if we have they go mass Marines (that’s easy) or hellions, few thors and tanks. Few terrans go mass Vikings, if they mass they start 1-2 BC, but enemy had more.

It is pretty much a fact now, that zerg is the strongest race, and probably still OP!

ok Nerf the Zerg on the ground, but give some decent AA ability.
If not in Offense then at least in Base Defense !
Do something about mass BC tech jump (teleport).

They didn’t touch Corrupters for a while, at least years for a anything noticeable, and a new patch is coming, probably sooner rather than later. So, I guess we will see if they decide to take anything in this direction, in the next patch.

“Corrupters are one of the strongest AA” Tahts always such a dumb argument. Corrupters can’t shot ground, dont have a lot of range, are really expensive for all they do. You need to be playing 3D chess constantly balancing the number of corrupters you produce with your gorund forces and constantly checking if your opponent didnt switched to ground. Either protoss or Terran if they reach their air peak, its gg for zerg

“Corruptors are one of the strongest AA units in the game” is absolutely a true statement.

For supply, Corruptors out-compete almost every air unit in the game, and they aren’t particularly expensive for an air unit. Corruptors aren’t exactly versatile, but they don’t need to be either; especially with Zerg’s production.

So you think you need few corrupters to destroy and Air offense? You need a lot to make things fair, or depend in other things like hydralisk and infestors. Which is more micro and more gas (which was also nerfed btw) , and at the end if you invested a lot in corruptors you are done, cuz the other guy, specially terran, can simply and without consequence switch to just ground units and now your corrupters supply its completely useless . Its common sense, come on

If only there was a long range air-to-ground unit that some Corruptors could be morphed into if Terran makes no air units… something that can throw Broodlings… maybe it could be called a “Brood Lord”… if only…

My original point here was this:

  • Terran scan than TP (tech jump) into your base with 10+ BC’s. or
  • Protoss came with 15+ VR and few 3-4 Carriers.
  • and yes mostly in 4v4 - edge bases.

Then all zerg units are doomed. But the worst is if you invest a lot in the Forest of Spores, they are also useless. Hydra & Muta & Ravagers die like flies, Corruptors last little bit longer but still weak - especially if you did not mass just Corruptors until that point.
Infestors - will not do on obstructed terrain (base had buildings) , they may not even be able to get into position, and a few Infestors by themselves are not enough to stop a large air army. Vipers have a similar problem: their Abducts can be useful for isolating individual units, but when 10+ Battlecruisers or a large Protoss air fleet is already inside the base, the Zerg player can be overwhelmed before that control becomes effective.

So Zerg could need some kind of static defense - especially near Hives, Spires Those need very long time to rebuild.

My idea is to have an expensive Scourge Nest that launches Scourge at enemy air units. It could only be built near core structures and have a limited range , but enough firepower to help counter large-scale Terran/Protoss air attacks.

The limited range is intentional: I don’t want it to become an offensive tool or lead to another Canon Rush & Swarm hosts - type of cheese.

Or you could just use the tools which you already have like an adult instead of blaming the game for your bad play.

Disagreeing is fine, but

is unnecessary and condescending. If you disagree with the suggestion, argue against the idea rather than making it personal.

Earn my respect if you want it that badly. I’m not obligated to be your friend.

If you want people to respect you as someone who can debate ideas, you need to learn how to recognize and acknowledge when you are in error about those ideas, or at least acknowledge the points your opponents are making and rebutt them instead of just denying or ignoring them and repeating the same thing over and over in slightly different words.

If you can’t manage that, you are being disrespectful of the people you are engaging with, and you should expect that people will call you out for it, to varying degrees of “nice” or not.

The fact is that there are Zerg players who manage to get to higher ranks than you are, which means there is some way they are dealing with it - either through their own skill or better coordination with teammates, or both. So your premise of needing the game to change for you to be able to win games is shown to be false by the fact that there are Zerg players who manage to get a higher rank than you.

Have you considered that capital ships are some of the most expensive units in the game, which should warrant that they require specific and at least somewhat skillful responses to defeat?

And if you are keeping equal upgrades and macro and it’s only capital ships you are dealing with, Corruptors don’t even take much skill to counter them.

This is what Parasitic Bomb is good at? Huh?

If there’s clumped air pbomb is turbo crazy damage!

Assuming that you actually keep up on upgrades and produce enough Corruptors to do the job, then yes. Corruptors are completely fine for anti-air. They are not a unit that needs any buffs to do their job.

You should be able to deal with an air to ground switch unless you made too many far too Corruptors. At that point, your best option is to convert some of the Corruptors into Brood Lords, which only a few ground to air units can actually deal with.

Air to ground switches in general are usually a Protoss thing, not a Terran thing. Warpgates allow Protoss to make that transition far faster than Terran.

To be fair, PB mostly tickles BCs. Abduct, Neural, and Corruptors are all still fine answers to it, though.

IDK about that. Once libs his critical mass they one shot everything in the air. Absolutely everything.

You need an extremely high number of Liberators for that, so much that it is almost unreasonable to consider. At that point, spells like Parasitic Bomb and Storm (the latter of which assumes the High Templar have some way to get close enough) become devastating to that Liberator swarm.

For example, it takes 34 Liberators to one-shot a Corruptor, 65 Liberators (195 supply) to one-shot a Carrier, and 138 Liberators (a number unobtainable in 1v1) to one-shot a Battlecruiser.

If you are just talking about the point where Liberators can beat Carriers, it is about 30 Liberators (90 supply).

Liberators do not beat Battlecruisers in anything approaching equal supply. They simply never get enough DPS for that.
