What will be the 4 th race? We all, would probably like to see SC3 or another Expansion come to fruition

We all, would probably like to see SC3 or another Expansion come to fruition; And maybe not everybody, but at least some would like to see a 4th Race.

  1. What would be the name and type of race?: hunters, priests, guardians, warriors (enjoying just to conquer and fight in a war)
  2. What would be the level of tech of that civilization?:
A level of tech between zerg and terran, between terran and Protoss, or even higher than protoss.
  3. Mid or Late strong, Micro or Macro focused, very skill focused?
  4. Core Strengths, and Weaknesses (harass focused, flexible in tech etc).
  5. What would be the main Campaign scenario plot and conflict?
Which race will this civilization X meet first? The Race X will first unite their 3 empires maybe, to mass up and eventually fight the Zerg or Protoss etc.?
  6. What will be the core units and their abilities?

Would be nice to see what ideas everybody has, you never know maybe we will see a 4th race, some day, in couple years or more.
Thank you in advance.

It almost sounds like you imply an alien race has a higher technical arsenal than us, Terrans you heretic.

Well I always loved the idea of people made out of rocks so my guess would be a pile of sentient rocks. Or a sentient pile of rocks.

  1. UED Automated Forces. They’re robots sent to the Koprulu sector by the UED to establish a presence there.

  2. The UED is canonically the most technologically advanced human faction, so I would say Protoss level without the Psi tech.

  3. Mid/Macro. Gameplay would be similar to Stukov in Co-op, where you mark objectives for expendable infantry while controlling ground and air mech as normal.

  4. Their strength would be consistent pushing. They’re an onslaught you withstand, not something you beat once or twice in decisive battles. On the flipside, that means static defence that can withstand them is a barrier for them.

  5. First they engage the Dominion, claiming it as a UED colony. When that fails they begin attacking the Protoss and Swarm using the Dominion banner, trying to force the Dominion into a four way war they can only win by siding with Earth.

  6. All infantry units are referred to as Automated Frontline Combatants, or AFCs. Which can use several frames depending on the situation or the experience of the hard drive operating it.

  • The basic throwaway infantry frame is the Mayhem, which is just a gun with legs.

  • The dedicated anti-ground frame is the Havoc, which is a horse-like machine with a sustained beam weapon instead of a head.

  • Dedicated Anti-air frame is the Malstrom. It’s a robot crab with a flak cannon on its back.

  • In addition to these lovely robots, there’s a wide variety of traditional vehicles, which would pretty much be different versions of the tanks, ships, and plains you expect from the Terrans. Different enough that you can tell the difference between Terran and UED units, but you can still see that a human designed it.

Wow, you must really like Co-op. I feel like this is a mesh up between Stukov and Stetmann. (Which is cool)

I don’t like the idea that the Dominion somehow singlehandedly defend against them, though. It doesn’t feel threatening. While their back up plan sound nice, I would hate to see it pull off successfully. It implied that the Protoss, Zerg and the Dominion are pretty dumb. And despite their years of history, they learn nothing about each other.

The point is it wouldn’t work. The UED is so out of touch all they have in the Koprulu sector is weight that they try to throw around to get their way, but the Dominion, Daelaam, and Swarm have more than enough weight to throw back.

In regards to the UED, I think that they would use robots, but their inherent humanocentrism would make sure they were never fully autonomous, there would have to be a human brain in charge at all times, I’m imagining that the basic UED infantry and vehicles would be expendable shells controlled via neural uplink from command structures, and replaced quickly and effectively on the battlefield by mobile factory ships. important units or ones meant to range significant distances would be piloted by humans directly. An interesting racial mechanism for the directorate then would be the uplink, where their units would have to remain within a certain distance of command/carrier vessels or uplink amplifier stations to maintain maximum combat effectiveness.

Would any of you want me to try making up the race of sentient stone piles (or piles of sentient stones)?

Unpopular opinion. I don’t want 4th race.

I want more Umoja and KMC. I want Vorazun+Selendis team up. I want Dehaka to be less one-dimensional. I want more Niadra. I want to see anything with Alarak. I want Nova to come back.

I think even if it goes short of a new race, in a campaign there should definitely be factional differences in Terran units.

KMC using older BW tech and whatever new stuff they can scavage. Umoja with some new units that are a step ahead of the dominion.

I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion at all. As fascinating as it is, reading ideas about a fourth race and brainstorming about it, I would rather have more campaigns involving the current lore-based subfactions.

Everybody knows I’m a sucker for the KMC - you can still find my co-op commander idea in the appropriate forum section - as they could have a focus on less used units like HERCs, Warhounds and Diamondbacks (yes, I ain’t giving up on them) and of course Goliaths, and have completely new purely lore-based units such as Hellhounds, Rippers and Outriders.

Edit: I hate Umoja, wish there was a campaign where the Dominion finally has enough of them and beats the crap out of their sorry little group.

Yeah I don’t want a 4th race either tbh. 3 is a good number and covers all the main sci fi tropes. After that you get needless overlap.

  1. Reavers, a race composed of hunters, predators, priests, and guardians. They enjoy hunting, war, fighting and dying in glorious combat, they rarely show mercy to their enemies.
  2. Lower tech than Terran and Protoss, but more advanced than Zerg.
  3. Mid/Micro, Skill based, timing pushes, harass, good all ins.
  4. Very strong in ground fights, hand to hand specialists, flexible tech, very good against bio. Weak air to air, and a bit weak to Mech.
  5. First they encounter the Zerg, and in a few missions, the Reavers adapt their skills and weapons to the weaknesses of Zerg. They chase them down to a planet where Zerg and Protoss are in battle. In a swift strike they assassinate a High Executor, an old friend of Zeratul. The Protoss retaliate, and attack several Reaver planets at once. You end up in the position, that you can defend only some of the attacks, and eventually that will effect which units you will keep for the last fight.
  6. Priests use fire abilities, such as creating a fire wall in choke points (efficient against bio), Guardians can create small shields that temporarily protects (slightly) the units around, from spells such as storm and fungal growth. Predators can be upgraded to penetrate some of the Protoss shields etc.

Unless they make Purifiers their own faction, or give Protoss a permanent selection of Purifier units, we do not have a significant robot presence yet.

U right. However, both the protoss & terrans have robot units.

Robot races are an overused trope.

You can just type whatever you want here. To be honest, if there is a point where the freedom of speech is being exercise too much, it’s here.

And why is that? Is this the Umoja portrait in the Evolution? I want to smack them, too, but in other lore; they’re pioneers in science and philosophy. They’re forever by democratic with a lot more grand freedom than any other faction. Valerian gets most of his progressive idea from them. How the writer portrait them in Evolution is not of the things that bug me.

Umoja is like a kitten. They get out their tiny little claws and start handing out the hurt but when it’s retaliation they just furball up and try to avoid the consequences. Passive aggressive little jerks.

I don’t share their values as much. Literally any other Terran subfaction I fancy more than them. And Valerian is not exactly my favorite character either.

I would play this kind of campaign, looks really nice.

Ah, okay.

I completely disagree, but this is your opinion and I respect that.
