There is is still a few units from the campaign that never got assigned to commanders. Here’s the list of them and where I would place them.
Terran -
Specter: clearly we are not getting Tosh so give them to Raynor.
Regular uninfested Diamondbacks: Swann
Predator: I always pick the Hercules in the campaign. Idk who I’d give this too. Raynor? Or Han and Horner?
Zerg -
Corpses Strain Roaches: Idk Zagara maybe, Abathur
Notscious Strain Ultralisk: Upgrade for Stettman’s Mechanics Ultralisk probably since Kerrigan already has Torasque strain.
Carrion Swarmhost strain (flying locus): upgrade for Abathur’s Swarm host maybe since Dehaka has Creeper strain. Honestly I feel like Abathur should have creeper host, and Dehaka should have the carrion strain with flying locusts.
Protoss -
Sentry: you can make the case this is pretty much Zeratul’s Xelnaga Shield Guard.
Avenger / Blood Hunter: Vorazum’s DTs have benefits of all 3 DTs from the campaign.
Arbiter: Artanis
Honestly Artanis in my opinion should have the classic BW Auir air units Scout and Carrier. Fenix should have the purifier air units Mirages and Tempests. Karax should have the new SC2 Auir air units Phoenix, and Super-carriers. Mojo and Colarion would have to be worked but this makes more logical sense to me. Though it would make Fenix weaker against armored air.
But ignoring my my last paragraph just adding Arbiters would be great for Artanis.
Auir Mothership (from WoL Utter Darkness) : also probably Artanis
I know it’s not happening but it cool if they just added the unused units to various commanders.
Did I miss any units?

Abathur kinda already does - I don’t think they generate creep but they do deep tunnel, as the campaign Creeper Swarm Hosts do. The Carrion variant is flying locusts. Both variants, by default, only attack ground; air attack is an upgrade. Abby’s hosts generate ground locusts*.
* When you kill an air unit, it spawns a pair of flying locusts.
Dehaka doesn’t need or generate creep, as the primal zerg didn’t. I think in the campaign, Abathur or Dehaka explain that creep is a mutation/adaptation of the zerg after they left Zerus.
Also, Dehaka has enough stuff that Deep Tunnels. For Abathur, except for Brutalisks, outside of P2, only Swarm Hosts deep tunnel. Wouldn’t be great to take that away.
Same. They’d make a good front line for HH but HH’s answer to crowd control is to bring their own crowd

Avengers would be nice for Artanis, to add another melee unit. Zealots tank and do aoe damage with Whirlwind, while Avengers deal heavy single target damage.
Blood Hunters obviously for Alarak. Would be nice to see them fighting alongside their Highlord. They could get some upgrades from the Death Council or even Ascendant Archives.
Daelaam Mothership for Artanis. Doesn’t have to be the heroic Shield of Aiur version, the regular one is enough.
Arbiters for Artanis, I agree.
Spectres for Raynor, since he doesn’t have Ghosts.
Predators may spice up Swann’s mech arsenal a little bit. Or Raynors.
I strongly think Zagara’s Infested drop should contain Corpser Strains.
(Watch from 0:30)
I also increased its damage by 50% and made it hit sky units too.
I increased 50% damage because Roach Drop damage remains the same even the numbers are doubled from 10 to 20 and since drop comes from air like Spear of Adun (they may be dropped from Leviathan) I figured it is only fitting.

For most of the leftovers, I’d definitely like to see them on new commanders for the most part but yeah it would be nice to see them at all. I would for sure stick all the leftover terran stuff with tosh
Corpser roaches on Zagara would be nice for sure.
I could see the “spawn noxious ultralisk” on stukovs queens as the anti building version of spawn broodling to make people use them more.
No opinion on the host type zerg. The protoss air changes make sense but I’m used to how they are already I suppose. Wouldn’t do anything with the sentry or aiur dark templar since there are versions of them that are just better and not really unique. The blood hunter however could definitely have its own tal’darim thing going on as its own unit. Arbiters on artanis would be great, obliterate P2 for something better and I think nobody would care.
I haven’t taken a super close look at Dehaka’s units, but it would be cool if they used the same models as the primal Zerg from the Zerus missions. One that comes to mind is the primal Ultralisk.

Aren’t both the Ravasaur and Tyranozor using that model (or one of that family, seems like there are small variations, though I would have trouble to tell them apart in the middle of battle) ?
I would love to combine frenzy with Corpser roach drop. Roach drop is not really a great power, it makes for a good distraction I guess, but Corpsers would synergize so much better.

Specters thematically wouldn’t make much sense for Raynor and Firebats already fulfil the role of being short-ranged meatshields over Predators.
That is, unless Predators were half the price of Firebats and had a passive ability of sorts that made them “better” than Firebats somehow. But you’d still need to invest into Factory/Armoury upgrades so any cost benefits get lost anyway.
Any and all merc/elite Terran unit type
Defiler
And thats about it !
I would like to try massing Predators. In the campaign they are kind of made out of glass. Really need to get armor upgrade for them immediately.

Would like to see the Warhound unit as a normal unit that you can build. Currently, it’s a Legendary Outlaw from Tychus via Sirius.
As long as we’re dreaming, we could probably just put these unused units into a new CO.
Coming from my heart. I think I’ve already posted the same years ago. According to this, almost every unit must be reworked.
Ya they really messed up on Dehaka. It’s why i never got him, including not liking hero units. But they had that whole Zerus world to draw from and instead give him the same old lings, hydras and mutas. Pretty weak creativity.

Yeah I didn’t expected that, I think they did it to avoid confusion.
You know aside from units, I wanted to play the heroes like Artanis, Raynor, Swann and Vorazun
You can’t make everyone a hero. It’s not RTS, it’s more moba. It’s why i didn’t get tychus or zeratul or the other 1vs map moba commanders.
Swann couldn’t be a hero. You mean from the campaign mission? He can build all his abilities with SCVS.
The units that didn’t make the cut into co-op were reserved for future CO’s that never got the green light to be released, Though I wouldn’t mind if stuff suddenly appeared in everyone’s arsenal since no more content is being developed.

I am super against adding hero units in general. Whether the idea is to “replace current prestige” in an attempt to supposedly improve it. Or they want to “add an additional prestige” to provide another option.
As a whole, I think Hero-centric commanders should be kept at a relative minimum, which is already o-plenty. There are 9 COs out of 18 that have a hero. And their popularity towards ease of play is clear. I think this is exactly the path that cleared the RTS genre.
I think having some are a nice delight. However, adding too many would drive the purpose of the game, which is RTS focused. So to that end, any usage of said unused units (which include a lot of the hero models) should give this consideration… not that any work of the sort is being done.
Still, I would like to have an option to play as a hero for an additional fun value (while imposing strong disadvantage to compensate).
I am for 4th prestige to increase more options, if they are done right they can add more fun in Co-op and make it more timeless.
SC2 coop isn’t really RTS at this point so why would adding heroes hurt?

Arty was a sick hero unit in the campaign. I loved the cutscene where Arty fights off a whole army of zerg and does that rise up thing.
Afterwards on the Spear of Adun Karax asks him “Did you get some weapons upgrades that I’m not aware of?” It’s pretty funny.
