Any recommended unit comps to use? I mostly see other players go mass tempest with this. But does it also work for mech? Do I forgo Archons entirely?
not sure about his p2, but usually with artanis going straight zelot dragoon is usually my go to. I know i have his p1 but as for p2 p3 there pretty much useless so dont bother.
Yeah. My go to is P1 or P0. A lot of people like P3 coz the OP archons help a lot in early game and in expanding but doesn’t fit his theme for me. I was paired with some skilled people that pull off amazing things with P2 like teleporting behind an attack wave with like 30 tempests and then teleporting to another wave on the other side of the map to do it again and so wanted to emulate that.
Artanis P2 is normal Artanis, but just with better mobility… mobility works with every units so it’s pointless to do a specific unit composition just for that… especially that majority of coop commanders don’t have many units to choose from.
It reapplies mastery stim so if you are really adamant do something which do good with attack speed. Immortals do best, however you should still go for units which are good against enemy composition and map defenders.
No point going Immortals against Ling Bane Viper, right?
What YOU are refering to is most likely P3, because I literally never seen Artanis P2 buying a Tempest. In this case, I don’t care, I hate playing with Artanis P3, average user of this prestige is just not a helpful ally.
So far the 2 comps that I’ve seen the most effectiveness for P2 are Dragoon-Immortal-Reaver and Mass Tempest but the latter is definitely hard to pull off most of the time. Sometimes I run zealot-dragoon-tempest to help screen for the tempests.
That said I’m pretty sure those skilled players are using P2. How else would they be able to teleport 20+ Tempests to kill the last 2 thrashers on Temple in under a minute? (I was also playing as Karax so yeah no tp antics like with Vorazun or Alarak)
The following are the humble opinions of not the best player:
i recommend first of all putting 30 mastery into guardian shell and avoid using shield overcharge during games, another 30 mastery into speed increases for warped units because this reapplies to all units projected to a new power field, and i suggest splitting your last 30 (any ratio) between both chrono and energy because the chrono helps you get early economy and tech online, especially helpful for zealots, and the energy helps you not run out of energy and lose the main source of your mobility and dps.
for the first attack wave with this prestige i generally use an orbital strike, though sometimes i can get whirlwind fast enough and use a few zealots for it. after this point orbital strike is basically never worth the energy. shield overcharge isnt worth using over the massive move and attack speed buffs from project power field. if you get zealot techs always get whirlwind before charge because the move speed boost from warping is basically charge speed.
this prestige is best suited for maps like malwarefare, mist opportunities, and temple of the past, the best unit comp is zealot + tempest, next best is a reaver based comp, which is also better suited for defense objectives like miner evac and perhaps against certain enemy comps such as those containing goliaths, thors, ravagers, or hydras (haven’t paid enough attention). reaver based comp is much more difficult to play though, as you need to balance having 1-2 handfuls of dragoons for anti-air, as well some amount of immortals and/or zealots for durability, and it lacks the siege abilities that tempest provide which makes clearing maps much more difficult. phoenix comps feel inferior to tempest comps in every way with this prestige, though adding a few to kite scourge can still be quite useful. and dragoon comps feel like they start excessively overkilling things with the attack speed boosts and waste even more of it than tempests do while being harder to mitigate army losses, so they aren’t worth massing compared to massing them with shield overcharge on another prestige.
projecting your templar/archons to another location does improve their energy regen significantly, so they are likely viable options as well. i was never successful in finding a comp with them that felt as strong as the tempest or reaver comps, and they also felt weak compared to what they are capable of on P1. but i suspect someone better than me could get more value out of them on p2 as you have more max energy and energy generation for storms by far, even though each individual storm is not nearly as strong having so many more of them should be capable of making up for that as artanis storms can stack. and the additional attack speed on archons should be capable of making up for less damage on feedback in theory. just not in practice for me.
Good luck!
Thanks for sharing. I did try out Zealot/Tempest and I find it best to use vs ground comps since the Zealots tie up the ground wave for the tempests to shoot at. I’ve since moved to fooling around with P3 and then back to my preferred P0/P1.
