I just got back into the mood to grind SC after about 9 months.
I just played 3 gate stalker on 1 base vs a 2 base immortal expand with battery overcharge and the immortal became invincible against 12 stalkers.
I firmly believe that this is one of the most degenerate things ever added to any expansion in Starcraft 2.
This is not even a deep criticism – it just sucks and everyone knows it. I think if it came down to a vote the majority of Protoss and Sc2 players in general would vote for the removal of that stupid feature.
Edit: Game start spinner is another degenerate trash enhancement added to Sc2 in 2020.
Yeah it feels a bit unfair when you see a guy defending with 1 unit and 3 batteries however it has counters.
if this was frustrating for you wait to see the proxy cannon/immortal with batteries. Or proxy void with batteries - they are really fun and require a lot of skill
Dude I am straight up switching back to Terran. Took me about 10 Toss games to encounter this. I feel like one of those casual players who quits pvp because it tilts them too much. I consider it unplayable with this mechanic. Not fun, will not subject self to it.
have you considered backing off and not engage the Immortal for 14 seconds with your 12 stalkers?

Man he is on one base, what are you even talking. He is going to do dmg or lose.
is he going to lose waiting 14 seconds, after the guy spent 400 on a nexus, 100 x however batteries he built?
You speak as if 2 base automatically begins saturated, every probe he built needs about a minute for it to pay for itself. He still has a huge advantage with those stalkers waiting out Overcharge.
I would gladly be proven wrong if the replay is provided and we can view it in context.

What? Man are you serious or what? Do you even realize how far behind he is having these 12 stalkers from 1 base? It higher leagues he is dead if he doesn’t do any dmg and he cannot wait more. Waiting more should mean second immortal and so on…
I think it is stupid but its not any more abusive than a mass repair planetary fortress. Ultimiately you have 4 options:
- Kill the battery
- Unpower the battery
- Attack somewhere else
- Wait for overcharge to end.

So, your 1 base stalker cheese was deflected in a mirror match and to you that is an indicator that your own race’s defensive mechanic should be removed?

Something tells this “protoss” that the only valid objective to attack is…the SB overcharge…
So what? An old meta is not practicable anymore due to the changed circumstances, happens all the time. Is this enough to quit playing and…switch?

I suspect that the guy is not even protoss, we don’t have such dumb members in our player-base. You can’t play protoss with terran-mentality.

I played more games today. Last game was an attempt to play pure adept battery. No tech investment, just stand in front one 1:1 battery per unit ratio at my natural and do some all in.
Turns out I was a step behind because my opponent was planning a mass battery void ray push on the area close to my natural.
Turns out its battery craft 2!!
Battery overcharge really isn’t that big of a deal since you can target down the battery pretty easily.
It doesn’t have anything to do with the meta or his changing. If he is going for 1 base against 2 base and he doesn’t put pressure he is done. And that was an answer to Avermra about the “You can wait”, well he cannot wait while being pretty much all in.
An increase in defensive advantage was given to Protoss, so it’s only normal that some thing that worked pre-SB-Overcharge will be harder or it’s failure rate will be increased. This is the standard case when a design-change (PvP) changes the meta.
Yay, so fun 1base cheesing in pvp against an expanding enemy, the pinaccle of joy and entertaiment.
You know, it was put in the game because it was the opposite, most protoss were tired of 1base bs and proxy inmortal.

Without the overcharge, PvP never goes beyond early game in pro scenes.
Clearly not entirely true as you’ve just been body bagged

Without Overcharge, Protoss has no defender advantage.
