You make one per game, once, to scout some and then you forget it exists until the end of the game.
They should just give a free scan to Terran players at the same timing and rework the reaper altogether to make it a proper unit. Could be interesting for bio to be more than just stim+stutter step.
Or just give them individual 25 gas upgrade.
25 gas to remove its attack, add 2 to vision, increase speed to above ling off creep speed and replace cliff jump with short durration flight.
Would make Reaper dedicated scout.
Personally, I thought the perfect time to give Reapers more utility was Heart of the Swarm. Instead of Widow Mines, Reapers could have been given Spider Mines with an upgrade that allows them to be replenished at a small resource cost per mine.
It would have been easier to balance and wouldnât have resulted in some really imbalanced unit interactions the Widow Mine has (like vs Probes and Drones).
Reapers are not wasted units. They are good (but not great) tier 1 all-in units especially in TvT and excellent early scout units that can avoid the wall block and give you some info about the enemy opening (a bit like zerg overlord but they arenât free at the start of the game, LOL).
The only one buff I would give to reapers is to change damage from 4x2 to 8x1 because as someone mentioned earlier in different thread the second shot is sometimes randomly missed when kitting.
Nope. The second shot is never ârandomlyâ missed. It only fails to shoot the second shot when the T mis-micros the reaper. Every unit has an auto-attack length and cooldown. If you stutter step a unit you need to move command when the attack animation finishes firing or you interrupt the attack. Reaper shouldnât be buffed just because some people spam their commands instead of actually stutter stepping.
As reaper you need to shot and wait till the two animation ends in stutter step. There are only two units in the game that might have this requirement which is Reapers and Zealots but Zealots are melee so we canât really count them.
For every unit you need to wait for the full animation cycle to finish, 1 shot or 2. I can stutter step marines so they never fire, does that mean they need a buff? No. Reaper âmisfireâ is an l2p issue not a balance issue.
You donât understand actually what the problem is. When you do it too fast then units like stalkers doesnât shot because of the attack animation but reapers does have the different problem - they actually shot and you can see the animation but the second one sometimes isnât registered when you kite.

ANIMATION CYCLE means the full set of animations for the full attack, whether that is 1 or 2 shots.
A reaper has 2 attacks in its ANIMATION CYCLE so if you move command in the middle of its ANIMATION CYCLE you lose the second attack, because itâs in the middle of that ANIMATION CYCLE
The same thing happens with Queens (which have two attacks in their ANIMATION CYCLE) if you stutter step too quickly. It works as intended because you interrupted their ANIMATION CYCLE
So remember: 1 ANIMATION CYCLE can have MORE THAN 1 ATTACK and if you INTERRUPT THAT CYCLE BEFORE THE SECOND ATTACK you LOSE DAMAGE because you MISMICROED

Actually, reaper has such large random delay between attacks, kiting anything that can hit back reliably is impossible.
Reaper can kite only slow lings and Zealots. Adept if you are godlike and have terrain to play with.
As for finishing second attack animation, who cares, its trash unit anyway. Make it scout or fighting unit, not bad mix of both.
No. No it doesnât. It affects many more units than those two and the fact that you think only Reapers and Zealots have double attack animations shows how absolutely ignorant you are.
Yes. Queens kite when chasing down units because theyâre slow. This is an incredibly common interaction against banshees, oracles, overlords, overseers, BCs, Reapers, medivacs, HellionsâŚpretty much anything a queen fights. And if you micro poorly, you lose damage. Again, not a balance issue, a micro issue which is an L2P issue.
Ok then tell me which more units it does affect?
