Re-enabling in-map videos from local source?

As I’m sure we all know, the “play video/cinematic” option from maps has been disabled due to the ongoing issues, and while the sound is still present, the screen is black.

I appreciate that Blizzard is trying to keep us updated on what is proving to be a very lengthy fix (and, as a software engineer myself, I understand how big a project it can potentially be to fix something like this), but I was wondering: Would it be “safe” for playing cinematics to be re-enabled in the specific case that the source is a file hosted on the user’s own computer? This would at least allow custom hand-shared maps (including SCMR) to use the feature.

Or is the underlying bug such that even that could be abused by a malicious actor to play a video from elsewhere?

The source is always local to your computer, game content is downloaded and cached.
