the only counter to void rays is more void rays into carrier/void ray, stalkers cant punish void ray spam with shield batteries and overcharge, literally the only winning strategy in pvp is to spam void ray into carriers.
blizz should make immortals shoot void rays, not air, just void rays.

Phoenixes are 2 Supply, build much faster than VR ate faster and VR can’t use Prismatic-Aignment due to their Light Tag.
Problem solved.
Muta? Phonixes, VR? Phoenixes…
KingCobra in big-air battles in PvP chases and kills even Tempests with Phoenixes.
u might be able to not die to void rays, but u still wont kill anything because of shield batteries, and u dont want to go against void ray/carrier with mass phoenix.
Half truths. I’ve told the Maxpaxs of the world you were supposed to open this way for a while now. That said, I’d never just mass void rays, because that’s not optimal at all.
For example, in HotS, it was obvious that making, say, 4 void rays was abusive. If you made any more than that, they needed storm. Storm would hard counter you. If you only make 4, though, then they lost if they got storm… It was a “sweet spot.”
In LotV, where others just mass stalkers, it’s debatable whether Toss even needs storm vs mass void rays. Can just run circles around you.
In a world where both people open with the intention of going void ray… they still end up in a phoenix vs phoenix game, cause no one has the guts/craziness to open void ray vs what could be phoenixes.
In short, mass void rays are only a thing at lower levels, because it’s just not optimal. When I started WoL in Silver league… people only massed void rays. Truly a hallmark of that league and around there.

Some offense here, but you are literally plat… What you see at the low level is nowhere representative of even low master…
Phoenixes counter Void Rays, Tempests counter Carriers. Problem solved.
When I played Protoss, all I had to do was making stalkers and being agressive with them+prism, eventually they would be able to move and snipe things and keeping the void count low or win the game with a single blink, only way to lose against them, playing passive and not making enough stalkers or making them until it was too late.
And in stargate scenarios, is the classic phoenix war, the one who makes more phoenix, wins.

Yeah, it’s really not good vs high level players. Then, if you go carriers, it’s kind of the same deal. They just attack wherever you’re not. You’re never allowed to leave your base. They end up taking the map, while you’re stuck on 3 bases, at most. Don’t get me wrong, I hate playing vs carriers, but I also know what happens when you play vs people who use the style that exploits it/counters it, without even needing to make counter units.
Adepts should air certainly. I’ve always believed Robo should have at least one unit that can hit air. It’s so easy to scout and know exactly how to counter whatever one trick pony comes from there.
I quote the Maegis Zerg from 2014. “If I see the protoss go robo, I go spire. If he goes Stargate, drop Infestation Pit.”
Of course this is during the swarmhost heyday which made careers for Snute, Firecake, Targa and so on and so on.
Is PvP just void gay vs. void gay now? Sounds pretty cancer.
The other day at work a client came in and brought their child who’s intelligence level was far below the minimum requirements for public school. His IQ would of been rated below 80 and he would of met requirements for special transportation to school rather than the full sized yellow school bus. I noticed he was wearing a Starcraft T-shirt and I asked him if he played or was just a fan. He said that he played and was 5k MMR with Protoss.

Void rays lose to stalkers. Period. In low numbers voids can decently trade but it gets out of control soon and they need batteries and other support to hold their ground. I disagree with the premise that PVP is all about void rays. I would say PVP right now is about who can expand to their third base first without being punished.
I will say that Archons can do surprisingly well against Void Rays but VR can outrange archons and they can just avoid them too so easier said than done. Storm too but that is tricky as well, especially if they have speed. But yeah, Protoss AA mostly sucks.
Not only PvP, but PvT and PvZ are Void ray madness in every single matchup.

I love how when protoss has to deal with the same BS that Zerg and Terran have to put up from them, it’s suddenly an issue.

It’s totally not an issue. Couldn’t be any less of an issue if you ask me. At his level, they’ve been massing void rays since beta of WoL probably. Gotta love void rays. As once said in a song, gotta respect void rays. It’s such a beautiful unit.
True… however lets not forget that void rays have been significantly buffed since 2009.
Yeah, but in P vs P their purpose hasn’t changed a single bit since the shield battery existed. It’s just a way to open games, to not die. It’s not like there’s anything oppressive going on. No one is massing void rays at GM in P vs P. At least I haven’t played whoever is.
Same counters exist. Still no reason to mass them. However, in theory… if you get the speed upgrade you can at least take less damage from storm, but that’s not the fight you want.

No, it’s not, Phonixes take care of VR in no time, VR even with speed can’t hide soon enough behind SB from those.

LUL, and they still suck against Terrans (unless stupid cheese in 5 min games) and are relegated to niche functions in PvZ (Carrier protection).
For the power they have they should be a 3 Supply unit, they can’t compete with Archon/Immortal (supply-wise) in what they cost and do.

I’ve actually, recently, created a build that transitions into void rays. It seems really good, but… it’s still predicated on the opening being so good (getting you far ahead). I’ve talked to a good player about it recently. Hopefully the world can learn to respect the void ray in all matchups, outside of just cheese. Then again, mostly just reminding kids to put respect on the immortal’s name, which really wasn’t needed.
I’ve always loved voids, long before the buff. I already thought it was the best unit in P vs P, simply for allowing 1 gate expand builds, which is obv superior to that other trash. Always been awesome vs Zerg in the role it’s used as now. Vs Terran. Yikes. I hopefully have solved that, though.
