Nobody Asked for Patch 5.0.16. Revert It

Nobody asked for this.

The Balance Council seems to have forgotten one important thing: you are not the original creators of StarCraft II. Your job is to preserve one of the greatest RTS games ever made, not redesign it into something completely different.

StarCraft II is not Dota 2.

It is not League of Legends.

Players don’t want constant experimental overhauls that rewrite the game’s foundations every few months. SC2 became an esport because of years of refinement, not because someone woke up and decided, “Let’s change the starting economy and see what happens.”

The 8-worker start wasn’t a bold innovation—it was an unnecessary experiment that disrupted build orders, pacing, and tournament preparation. Instead of improving the game, it created division across the community and forced organizers and players to adapt to changes that many never wanted in the first place.

What’s even more telling is that players started looking for ways to keep playing older versions of the game. That’s not the sign of a successful patch—it’s a sign that you’ve lost the community’s confidence.

Stop trying to reinvent StarCraft II. Respect its identity.

You’re caretakers of the game, not its original designers. There’s a difference.

Revert Patch 5.0.16. Listen to the community instead of trying to leave your own mark on a game that was already great.

Please and thank you!

Realistically, if they’re going to revert to 12 workers (and I really, REALLY hope they do), then it’ll probably be after Blizzcon.

Maru got cuckadoodledoo’d out of RSL before CC was hastily discounted to pretend to counter-balance Zerg. I’m looking forward to the likelihood of two back to back ZvZs to decide who will be playing ZvZ at Blizzcon. Maybe Clem or Hero can circumvent the design of this patch and save the optics game from the Zzzzz. They are stronger players than their opponents, after all. We can hope.

I’ve never posted on this board. I actually stopped playing the game because it’s not fun after the new patch and I’m just coming here to see if there’s any news of the patch being reverted. The silence from Blizzard is frustrating.

Please revert the patch.

Don’t hold your breath about it. Microsoft (Blizzard is only a front name for that since a few years now) don’t have a reputation for delivering what is requested.

And it’s not only the start of the economy. How the game proceeds and how the gameplay unfolds is different, feels different. It simply is not the same game. If it was only the starting economy from the initial start worker number, the solution would have been already there, simple and boring: most of all action would have started one minute later, the games would have simply shifted by one minute, more or less the time that people would make 4 more workers and then all would continue as before. It’s the other changes cumulative effect that end up making the game be different. At any moment, all the time, till the second the matches end, regardless of how long they last, 7 mins or 30 mins.

Agreed. They destroyed the game and the community is dying off. Sad.

the ghost buff + the 300CC makes the game slow and frustrating unless you are terran. Really it doesn’t matter anymore what kind of strategy terran use. They have 0 consequences with the mass production and mass fortress they can do.

And if you manage to defeat them its at the cost of 50 minutes games. F that, why do I need to make 3x times the effort and 3x times the time just to have a chance to win? in that case I would paly AOE2, at least I know that the match will be fair there.

I´ve stop playing 1v1 as a protos. Unplayable. unwinable. hope they will buff Toss shortly

Maybe against Zerg, but against Terran? In 5.0.16 Toss got only buffs and Terran only got nerfs aside from the 300 mineral CC’s which are exaggerated because the total cost of a Planetary Fortress is still the same and Orbital Commands can’t really be used for expansions beyond your third base. The Protoss players who I have seen actually lose are ones who don’t exploit the early game macro mechanics allowing Protoss to spam gateway units like crazy out of only one or two gateways while using the savings to mass expand across the map. At that point you take your giant economy and go Skytoss. The players who lose will try and beat a turtle terran by throwing zealots into widow mines like crazy which would lose just as hard as in 5.0.15.

Also, I am still trying to wrap my head around people suggesting that there has been a Ghost buff in 5.0.16. In the PTR the Ghosts were objectively buffed, but then they got some hard nerfs before the finished version we have right now. Ghosts are objectively garbage tier now though they are still just as good for EMP in TvP as they always were, just everything else about them has nerfed them to being the most overrated unit in the game at the moment.

Over my 16+ years of playing sc2 I don’t think I’ve ever posted on this forum but this patch has compelled me to do so. I haven’t played in weeks as a result and I have no desire to, which is truly a shame. I really hope after Blizzcon the balance team reverts this terrible decision.

How the buff to the CC which make the game faster for both players (both players = defender and attacker) can make the game slower?

Patch is great so far. I was wondering how could we buff Terran for years but it was all about this stupid CC being 400 minerals preventing to do anything… Finally something is changing and maybe some people (especially Terrans as there are only zerg players now) will come back to the game. I was bored of zerg buff each patch. It ruined the entire game. All the strategies once discovered were gone shortly after being discovered during to NERFS. Now the game is going in a good way.

Finally blizz balance team realized that there are 3 races in the game rather than 1 and all of them should be balanced BUT DIFFERENT and still fun to play.

Terran is still in terrible shape , Zerg is easymode right now easiest micro maco best production everything.

Terran is lost on most maps vs Zerg and still struggles vs Toss, Terran is basically a proxy rax or 2 base allin race right now.

I thought 300cc would make Terran OP but it barly does anything to address the main problems taking 3rd CC and they are still behind Zerg and P eco and they still get run over lategame.

Should have been 10 worker start not 8. 8 is too low and centralizes the meta around very specific builds/cheeses.

Not sure why after years we reverted the LotV eco changes back to HotS while keeping all the buffs for LotV which are designed around the timings that 12 worker starts provide…

Because one person has a vision for the game that nobody actually wants, and is trying to force it on everyone else.

Taking third CC can be a challenge unless you secure them with a liberator or two. Then once your third is secured, you can use the liberators for harass or add them in your main army. This is just a suggestion and in no way am I suggesting this makes Terran “BALANCED” as Zerg and Protoss don’t have these problems since Terran’s can’t even really attack either race in a meaningful way until 10 minutes into the game.

+1 to all of the above! Jesus christ Blizzard has truly become a clueless factory.

in TvZ you’d need more than a lib or 2 to secure that 3rd unless you enjoy ling floods.

Depends on whether you turn it into a Planetary or not. If you don’t then ling floods usually become a problem no matter what. The alternative is to depot walloff your 3rd and the liberators can help you get that up if a zerg is determined to pin you in.
