You may consider watching guides of players like: zuka, Winter Starcraft, Lowko, Harstem, and many more. There is sufficient sources available online.
Also it may be worth asking on general chat.
Starcraft is very rewarding game in terms of self-improvements. However, before I got where I am, I played hundreds of games in Coop and vs AI modes to practice some mechanics.
I do not know how fast you can achieve a certain skill, but it probably can be faster if you just focus on 1v1.
