Is it just my league, or is it always the same old zerg mass hydra/lurker or mass roach/ravager? And if it isn’t, how do you guys usually beat it? Tried disruptors and storms but they just re maxed, and I couldn’t send anything to get damage done because as soon as I left they went at my base, and always had units at home to defend against harassment
I agree, but saying macro better is just saying get good, can’t get good without some advice. Like if I scout a hydra den and roach Warren, what would you do straight away
I was gonna try, but the one I fought against recently was the mass hydra/lurker, and you can’t get a good enough air fleet out in time to be a threat to all the hydralisks (afaik for me, I’m assuming its possible if you harass enough)
That may be true, but there are things to help you progress faster, such as getting some help with countering something. If you can’t find a way to beat it, you won’t get better if it’s the same result. This is why I came to ask you guys for help
you can revelation on the lurkers, probably lose the oracle tho. if they dont have too many hydra u can pick up the lurker or just kill with air units.
Forgot about the oracle, thanks, I’l try it next time. The issue I had was he kept moving the hydras forward whenever my obs came near the lurkers, and I couldn’t push to the hydras because of the lurkers so they would always kill my obs (I’m not very good with micro (or macro in that matter) so I couldn’t keep it safe)
It’s not about that. I’ve seen it with people before when they focus too much on the final engagement and the composition surrounding it, when if you look at their replay they could have won 5 minutes earlier if their opening and early game were tighter. Go through your replay and completely ignore the opponent, just look at all the small mistakes you made that add up.
Diamond 1 player here. Here’s what I recommend
First watch vibelols bronze to GM series on youtube to get a sense of what your macro mistakes are. Usually it’s just not building probes, floating tons of money as you micro an adept or something for no reason (it’s more important to spend that money than get the maximum value out of that one adept), not getting key upgrades and tech on time and and poor scouting. Scouting is the hardest thing to consistently do. The one thing I’ve been doing more and more vs Zerg is trying to use an adept shade to see what his main base tech is and sacrificing the first adept for information if the Zerg doesn’t go 3 hatch after pool because you absolutely need to know what’s coming your way (2 base muta, 2 base nydus, ling bane bust, ravager rush, etc etc)
I have a hard time vs zergs who 3 base roach ravager max. If you scout early to can begin preparing. Usually you can see a roach Warren go down around 4 mins. If you see it know that you need immortals and know that you please probably should wall off your third base. If you see ravagers get disruptors because ravagers are actually slower than roaches and cannot Dodge the shots. Walling off your 3rd base is very useful for buying time and defending those locations.
Vs hydras lately I’ve been going colossus over storm. The issue with colossus is zergs often hard counter with corruptors when they see you colossus. I get around this by making two colossus the last units I build before I make the push so they never get scouted. Storm is also very good particularly if you suspect or confirm lurkers are out. The way to play against lurkers is to know that you need oracles to revelate them. Observers are just not stable enough detection . Try and get surrounds and flanks and also think about an air transition. If you have to fight them use immortals and focus fire.
Hydras> make Colossus or Storm, former is easier to control
Roaches> Immortals
Ravagers> Immortals, but only because you have them for Roaches. There aren’t an unit that counters Ravager from a stats perspective
Lurkers> Immortals, and controlling your army to come in at multiple angles so you aren’t funneling into a straight line attack.
All of the above need to be supported with proper number of Zealots and Archons. Roach Ravager Hydra Lurker don’t require niche units to beat (Chargelot Archon Immortal is the universal good mid game army), but rather how many you have (macro) and how you engage (micro, mostly applied to Lurkers)
Unless they’re doing a super quick timing you don’t need any specific response. Try out some of the standard PvZ build orders and focus on getting your worker count and bases up on time. More units is more important than having the perfect units.
