Last map pool was terran sided

i know many of you are too bad at the game to understand this but here are the maps that in my opinion heavily favor terran

zen
golden wall
purity and industry
and in my opinion nightshade because of how easy it is to attack

the others are somewhat balanced as far as i remember

so not everything has to do with balance stop being n00bs

Eternal Empire is pretty Terran favoured too, very easy to hold third, with an easy to siege fourth. It’s ridiculous for mech especially.

i wouldnt really know because my winrate is very high on that map because it is a macro map, but i think the easy to defend third works both ways and helps zerg as well

then again maybe its high because im terran

Easy to defend third almost works against Zerg in a way, as it’s the Zerg’s fourth that is really contested in a TvZ, it’s not very often you’ll get a kill on the third without going all-in, as by the time you have a force large enough to contest it, it’s already massively entrenched. I don’t mind Eternal Empire, it provides good macro games, but that third is incredibly annoying to contest against P/T. Adding to the fact that like two buildings prevent any sort of runby into the natural.

The only map I can think of in the current pool that is flat out Zerg favoured is Pillars of Gold, but even that one has some awkwardness, with the dead air space between the main and the potential 5th base. Ice and Chrome can be good for Zerg, though it’s also extremely easy for a mech player to set up on, same with a Stargate player. I despise Death Aura, the dead air space, and the ease of walling off. I also dislike Submarine, as any aggression gets to your base significantly faster.

I’m sure if pikachu is loosing a game he will just say oh well was not a terran map so whatsoever. What a pathetic silver league strat…

k dood, but actually someone hacked my main account after a fishy game where i got automatically disconnected… this kind of sucks.

Yep i agree, last season Terrans did well, a lot because maps. Since queen and bane nerf, not counting broken Zerg late game. Main imbalance is caused by maps in TvZ.

Look at HOTS map pool: in HOTS there were even 2-3, or 4 maps small maps. Beside:

  • most of maps had 3 attack paths only
  • third had only 2 entrances one close to natural (easily defensible) and 2nd easily to wall off
  • bases were closer
  • maps weren’t so open and didn’t have 5-7 attack paths as in lotv
  • in LOTV there is only 1 small sized maps instead of 2-3
  • in LOTV most maps are to large and open
  • in LOTV there are even 3 attack paths on natural, from them 2 had destructible rocks and it would take even 15-20 supply depots to wall that off, while in hots you needed 4-5 many times only!
  • in LOTV there is less macro maps, promoting all ins, or weird plays
  • almost every map had overlord spot in LOTV, which sees even on main and natural at the same time!

IT IS BECAUSE MAPS ARE MADE BY COMMUNITY MAP MAKERS, WHICH ARE THEMSELVES IN GOLD LEAGUE…

Which type of maps favor which races?

allot of things, certain specific terrain favor siege tanks but to put it simply small maps favor terran and large maps favor zerg. that is an extremely oversimplified way to put it but that is a good rule of thumb

I genuinely do not know.
And I can’t understand why map vetoes are even allowed or why it’s done in the first place.

I’ll do some research on this and see what I can learn. :thinking: If you have any links to reference, I’d really appreciate it.

map vetos are done because it allows blizzard to add dumb maps like golden wall without people getting mad
