Ladder is broken and we need an explanation

Ladder is broken
Custom games are broken
Arcade is broken

we’re paying customers god damnit. If you’re going to choose to effing stop investing in servers then let us the effing host our own games. I didn’t pay to have my game stop working because you chose to stop investing in it at the literal prime of its life.

It works, you just have to search again if you get timed out.

Jesus Christ. It’s Christmas. Their engineers are all on break. The same thing happened in 2015. Calm down.

Did this same thing happen in 2015? God was that a bad year. Had to work Christmas, so didn’t even get to play that day. Odd, it’s also the last year that Christmas was on a Friday.

While I don’t know anything about the ladder being broken this should have been the primary focus of the end of life dev team prior to cutting the cord. If Blizzard isn’t going to support SC2 from this point forward to any real degree, they should have given the players the tools needed to sustain the game themselves.

I’m pretty sure that Blizzard has no desire to create another Starcraft RTS for the foreseeable future.

pretty sure they moved the server to overwatch… since it is free to play atm ~…~

Well, not anymore for a lot of people since F2P

They may as well take this opportunity to combine the NA and EU servers because everyone from NA is flooding EU

I hope you’re not a site reliability engineer because “on break” isn’t supposed to mean that systems stop working and that’s what happened.

End-users are completely dependent on you for their day to day service OR you are not responsible for the service. You only get to pick one. If SC2 is going to enter a crappy maintenance phase, players should be able to host their own servers for f sake.

IIRC it was 2015, but I might have the year wrong. This has definitely happened with blizzard before though.

Maybe you are right he is overreacting.

But I can relate, got my new Razzer wireless just today, which was insanely late. So wanted to test it out 1v1 and 2v2 not working. Ok, let’s play custom vs AI, practice my timings and strats, and that doesn’t work either…
Just my luck

Actually I think you can fix a lot of stuff related to the game server remotely, even make reboots if needed. And don’t they have like couple of IT or Engineers on call? So they can connect remotely if needed.

serious question. do you think blizzard has an obligation to support a game forever regardless of economics? when is the last time you gave blizzard money? sorry blizzard was founded in a capitalist country i guess?

I played several 1v1 and 2 x 2v2, at least the NA server should be fine now.

Yes pls remember that we at inactivision blizzurd are a small plucky dev team composed of a few underdogs who are actually responsible for delivering gifts by sleigh during Christmas time. Please be patient as we do nothing to fix the game we broke over one of the busiest times of year where many customers will want to play.

Remember, we’ve got a tiny dev team. It’s just two mice and a gerbil. Contextually, we’re doing amazing.

Why not try call of duty warframe while you’re waiting for our plucky underdogs to fix this game.

Yes, so true. Game company’s have a duty, no an obligation, to abandon their games at Christmas ten years into the lifespan. Forget that it’s still a thriving esport. Forget it’s still got a hardcore player base. It’s clear now that inactivision blizzurd have our best interests in heart. But they’re also simultaneously being good capitalists. Lord knows capitalism is a great excuse to bully your customers. Anything for the sake of money. It’s the American way.

The funny thing about capitalism is, if one company fails to satisfy the market, another will rise to take its place. I mean, we’re really looking at this the wrong way. Inactivision blizzurd is doing us a bloody good favour.

Sounds about right. Can’t defend your childish request that a company devote the same level of resources to a game it no longer monetizes in perpetuity, so you ramble on about nonsense. They could drive this game into the ground, but if they release SC3 most of us are still gonna buy it.

No no you’re right. I’m demanding new updates, new missions, new maps, new balance changes, and especially a new race called sporks which feature both fork and spoon creatures in the tech tree.

Oh wait, no, I’m just asking for them not to break a game that’s been working for a long time.

How very unreasonable of me.

You’re right, again, my gosh such a roll you’re on. Clearly this comes down to capitalism. Despite the fact that blizzard is still selling the campaign, they have no obligation to maintain the game because of profits. Thank goodness we have your “very mature and adult” business expertise to crack this indecipherable code of actiblizzurd behaviour.

Oh and your trump card lol. Yes, we should all stop complaining because a bunch of sc2 fans would buy a pureLy hypothetical Sc3. Right. Good show.

It is not.
This is a clear message from ActiBlizz, they do not care, game is not making money, go home, they do not want an Esport they cannot monetize.

Im sure blizzard has the most demanding customers for 30 buck game out of all games world wide.
You feel like king if the world by paying 30 buck froma video game?
