How long do I have to wait for map publishing?

Does Blizzard have no capability to solve this problem?

I can’t update my extension mod around a year.

Even a rough estimate would help creators plan and maintain their maps responsibly.

Whining will get us no closer to it being fixed.

So what, then do I have to shut up my mouth until our great Blizzard “allows” us to upload mods and maps? funny.

That is correct. Doing anything else is wasting effort.

look asking isn’t whining ,for all we know it could be fixed tommorrow and devs could be waiting ,if you arent a blizzard employee you don’t get to whine about questions that are respectfully asked

For all we know, a meteor could crash into Blizzard HQ and it could never be fixed.

Get out of here with the insane hypotheticals.

I imagine both sides get to whine, or neither do. Lest we get into an endless cycle of “whining about whining about whining about whining”.” I’d rather all topics about publishing being down be completely and utterly banned from the forums, but alas.

In just a few days, it will be 365 days of shut down publishing for me in my editor as well, febuary 20th, ever since the first arcade attacks. So I understand your sentiment. My project starcraft futures has been 16 years in the making, ever since the first initial days of wol’s rising falling lava campaign release on release day. So I feel your creative artists pain.

’’So what, then do I have to shut up my mouth until our great Blizzard “allows” us to upload mods and maps? funny.’’

No. You do what I did as a 16 year galaxy editor veteran lunatic addict, with 55,000 hours into the galaxy editor, you abandon the galaxy editor, and move onto unreal 5.

They have already shown their contempt to the artistic community in my view, with the skins/nova covert ops locked dependencies/maps/library’s nonsense, that and this publishing nonsense, My suggestion to you, different from others, is to drop sc2 as a creative window of artistic expression, and focus on unreal 5 instead. In 170 days or so, I have already begun fabricating a custom ground up bottom from nothing video game of my own design and engine and ideas, and while its not exactly ‘‘super playable’’ ‘‘yet’’, its atleast ‘‘a’’ window of creative expression. So for me it’s been quite useful place to spend my time, I suggest you do the same, with a sad heart I might add.

’’That is correct. Doing anything else is wasting effort.’’

I disagree biometrix, again, 170 days in the unreal 5 editor, has been pretty useful. To me anyway. Maybe azerates doing something else instead of galaxy editing is a good use of ones effort. One cant shame him for being upset. I was more upset 6 months ago. Less so now.

I suggest maybe you look for other options as well. Its clear now that sc2 arcade is doomed. Look at the number of sc2 content creators who have left for good.

I agree, he never said any thing mean or nasty in the op, maybe slightly irritated at worst. Maybe he could have been very slightly nicer perhaps.

Wut?

then…just…go away? lol

bro in 19 days its an official year of shut down. People joked about a year of shut down 7 months ago. We were complaining 7 months ago lol. At the 3-5 months mark, Those of us who cared probably no longer do admittedly, its just been too long. If you are a content creator, who specializes in sc2 arcades, or you are a content artist who focused sc2 models/textures, of which there where many, then chances are you are upset, the galaxy editor is a special thing, people grew attached to it. To tell them to sever their addiction to it is a difficult thing.

My hope is this ultimately gets fixed, but it probably wont, so i’d suggest instead others create their own ip’s and their own worlds to build into, like the tempest rising or zero space dev teams did, and abandon blizzards galaxy editor engine, strong as it is, nice as it is, Since blizzard wont let us use it any more. If you cannot update your own works of arts for over a year how can you be expected to spend any more time into it?

’’I agree that complaining is not close to the solution, but if we don’t complain we won’t have any answer, it’s been a long time since this problem has been there it would be time to let us be able to update mods and maps and add others, I don’t understand why penalize everyone…’’

I agree with you as well. I don’t think they are necessarily penalizing every one to be mean, they are just too cheap and lazy to be bothered to use the very filters/mechanics used by the publishing system to control the content put there in the first place, preferring instead to simply shut it all off, like a leaky sink in one apartment room getting the entire apartment complex water turned off. Remember, your content uploaded always has an account name, thus email/bnet account attached to it. So its not like content that gets flagged for being bad isnt going to get attention eventually. If they actually had staff, and where not dissolved by bobby kotic, they would simply mark ‘‘this publisher is bad’’ and then the controversy would be over because ‘‘good accounts’’ could upload for longer periods of time and have better reputation of not being creators of ‘‘bad content’’ instead they used the simpler cheaper option which was to ban every one and every thing every where all the time all at once rather then ‘‘go account hunting’’ It was a pattern during burning crusade as well, if hackers where using hacks to fly around, or heal in raids or prevent raid wipes, it could take 7 or 8 days to get their accounts banned, and if hackers where stealing money or credit card info, patches could pop out in less then 45 minutes to an hour. It depends on how much they care about it, and in starcraft2’s case, they care very little, one patch to fix the editor takes a year, says alot to me about their ‘‘real’’ capabilities to be honest. Not them being mean, just pathetically under resourced. Like warcraft3, starcraft2 was a foundational game to battle net its self, left to the way side forgotten like garbage lol.

Go to unreal 5 brothers, abandon this galaxy editor publishing not enabled madness. Its been a year. That is too long. Its been a good run but its time to mourn its passing.

There’s a certain response I find a bit simplistic, like saying “just use Unreal Engine 5.” Not to mention coding, model, texture, sound…

I played Stormgate, which is coded in Unreal Engine 5, and it’s very resource-intensive for an RTS. Although the game isn’t that convincing.

If I look elsewhere, people will try to find an alternative solution. Another server hosts online and arcade games. But people still need to be informed.

I continued editing for Eras Zombie Invasion BL Version and another map Eras Zombie Invasion. If Blizzard doesn’t do anything about it, I’ll leave it open-source.

Thats fair, perhaps a layman might not be able to just jump right into it, what I probably should have said, was, people familiar with starcraft2 galaxy editings more advanced branches, such as texture editing, model editing, sound editing or ui style coding, will have an easier time learning unreal5 then you might think. It has alot of similarities to the galaxy editor in some ways.

I didn’t play storm gate, so, I think your words on that are likely true. They chose an art style that didn’t jive with me personally, but other then that, I don’t know much about the game. I did play other unreal engine games, that convinced me to think and say other wise. Such as cronos the new dawn, aliens the dark descent, tempest rising, terminator dark fate and ferocious.

ah eras zombies! good fun there, a pretty cool map. Im not familiar with any other servers hosting arcade games, so I hadnt even thought of that. I don’t know of any.

I hope blizzard fixes it, but im in serious doubt now after this length of time.

It’ll get fixed, it is surprising it has taken almoat a year now.. but they’ve put enough work into an update that’d it would be silly if it didn’t. Plus with a new Starcraft FPS game coming, SC2 probably needs to be in good health.

A lot of us are sitting on new mods, so you’re not alone.
