Fenix Champions Customization Idea

It would be interesting to give fenix’s champions an alternative tactical data web choice. Possibly being able to switch between them (on a decently long cooldown, let’s say 20 seconds) using purifier console? (Uploading different combat techniques to their personalities?)

This isn’t to say fenix NEEDS a buff or anything, just think it would be cool

Khaldalis: Empowered blades or hardened shield. (Reduce damage to 40, each legionnaire reduces by 3, up to 20, meaning with 7 legionnaires, damage reduced to 20)

Talis: Ricochet glaive or Piercing shade (talis shade lasts 3x as long, it’s attacks bounce twice, and targets hit take 7 additional damage. Each adept increases the bonus damage by +0.5 up to +5, meaning +12 damage to targets with 10 adepts)

Taldarin: Gravimetric overload or unrelenting barrier (barrier gains +200 hp [for a total of 400 damage absorbed]. Each immortal reduces taldarin’s barrier cooldown by 10 seconds, up to -50 seconds, meaning theoretically 100% uptime with 5 immortals)

Warbringer: Purification blast or Ressonance coil (changes basic attack to circular AoE, can attack ground and air. Each colossus increases damage by 3 up to +10)

Mojo: Suppression procedure or reconnaissance protocol (mojo gains +2 sight radius, and nearby units gain +0.5 range. Each scout increases the range bonus by +0.3, up to +2. Meaning a total of +2.5 range with 7 scouts)

Clolarian: Interdictors or repair drones (heal nearby mech units by 6 hp/sec. 2 drones. Each carrier increases healing by +1.2hp/sec, up to +4hp/sec (total of 10 hp/sec with 4 carriers, which is hilariously slow compared to Karax’s repair drones)

Would it be too overpowered when we make Vengeance Protocal effect permanent?

Yes, that would be way too op. Basically it would make all champions twice as fast permanently. You’d only need 6 units per champion to get the bonus maxed out.

Abathur’s 100 stack units stay permanent and the ultimate evolutions have powerful symbiotes (also healing).
But Fenix champion’s get revenge protocal so rarely and temporary. I also sometimes forget its existence. Wouldn’t it make Fenix more preferable in “Strength and Type Mutation” if the champions are stronger and tankier?

That’s true, it might be worth testing out. However, abathur’s biomass takes a long time to kick in (ignoring ultimate evolutions) and promotes efficient play (kill enemies and keep your stuff alive so you can get the benefits) whereas avenging protocol incentivizes sacrificing your units to buff up a champion (which is very easy and boring compared to toxic mine minigame). Fenix’s champions are already quite good: a permanent 2x speed buff seems crazy, especially on warbringer and clolarian.

Actually, can you kill your own units to activate revenge protocal??

Yes you can, it triggers on transfer into a new shell - doesn’t matter how. In fact the first unit that turns into the champion in the game will have Avenging Protocol, even though nobody has died yet.

Yeah, you can even base your expand strategies around finishing Champion research right as their shell gets near the rocks/enemy units.

Otherwise it’s mostly for Mojo and your two shocktroopers, Kaldalis and Talis. Avenging Protocol gives you the edge in any close battle by turning those three into terminators.

You can also remember to if all your adepts or zealots die in a battle, avoid warping any more in until the start of the next fight. If you warp in just before fighting, Khaldalis and Talis will remember the max avenging protocol stacks they had amassed in the previous battle.

I would also argue that warbringer can get a lot of value from AP. Yes you want to avoid losing colossi, but it is nice that once you lose 2 or 3 of them, warbringer will put an end to it very very quickly.

But doesn’t that apply within the next 20 seconds?
If those 20 seconds passes wouldn’t those stacks reset?

So when 20 second time limit is over, the Revenge Protocal resets? Or do they activate previous stage (for example previous 50% buff) after new Protocal?

The 20 seconds only count down while the champion is on the field.

WireBender is right, Avenging Protocol only runs out if there’s a unit out. Another trick you can pull is to summon a single Zealot for Khaldalis for a fight, then kill him before AP runs out.

If you time it all right, you can have a monster Zealot whenever you want.

For years we can’t make them change things that need to fixed and you are advising things which do not.
