Protoss gets winrates above 55%, they get nerfed, but everytime they manage to get to this point it’s because of some crazy well timed all ins and stuff.

Yeah and 3 rax Reaper was left in the game for 1.5-2 years. Mass Raven with PDD was allowed to stay in the game for all of the end of HotS and also in LotV, twice for 6+ months.

That’s the way it goes, that’s the ways it’s always been.
But you know what? No matter what they hit, no matter what nerfs are called for, nobody innovates like the Protoss pros.
So go ahead, nerf the warp prism, nerf the tempest, in a month there will be a new build running everyone over and they’ll be back begging blizzard for another round of nerfs, like always.
The nerfbat might be strong, but the will of a Templar is stronger.

Out of curiosity, since you have been pro WP nerf before. What do you propose to balance Protoss after GSL S2 Protoss over representation? Personally, I would like to see more Terrans and Zergs go further in GSL S3. Do you think action is required and if so what kind of action?
I’m in favor of a WP nerf actually. Hurricane and PartinG should not have found thier way into the knockout stages, so something clearly has to change there.
I would keep an eye on the WCS circuit though, Neeb was the only Protoss able to qualify from a major region and all 4 EU slots got taken by Zerg.

Ah, so we are in agreement on this. I agree that the main goal should be to make GSL more balanced while retaining balance in WCS. Easier said than done, but definitely possible.

3rr was allowed to stay in the game, meanwhile Byun had the highest ever recorded ELO on top of the steepest ever recorded ELO spike (that’s just focusing on Byun alone). Either Byun is a one in a trillion God-amongst-men, or 3rr is broken beyond comprehension. His performance history and non-TvZ play clearly indicated he was not a God-amongst-men. Blizzard’s conclusion: “Congratulations on winning Blizzcon Byun, we are huge fans, let’s continue to let the meta settle”.

Carriers were so broken they were unused in PvT, PvP and rarely seen in PvZ because late PvZ was never a thing. Thanks for asking tho.

PvP never got to that point, PvT any terran units counters them. PvZ rarely gets to that point, and zerg won everytime because infestors vipers BL corruptors and spores.
Yeah so much so that after every patch Protoss ends up winning even more than they used to.

Terran has 3 premier tournament victories and 5 finals appearances in 2019. 4 Different Terrans (Maru, Innovation, Gumiho, Special) have appeared in a Premier Tournament finals this year.
Protoss has 2 Premier tournament victories and 5 finals appearances. 4 Different Protoss players have made finals appearances this year (Stats, Classic, Neeb, Trap).
Zerg has 4 Premier Tournament victories and 8 finals appearances, 5 different zerg players have made finals appearances this year. (soO, Serral, Scarlett, Dark, Reynor).
The blatantly false narrative that “OnLy MaRu CaN WiN WiTh TeRrAn.” has to stop. Seriously.
The only thing that changed between GSL S1s perfect 3-3-2 representation and GSl S2s 5-2-1 representation was a Protoss nerf.

Only Maru can do it applies specifically to the year of 2018. It was a counter to “Terrans have been dominating GSL for 2 years, while Zergs won nothing!” rhetoric, which really meant Innovation, Gumiho and Stats won 2017 GSLs and Maru won all of the 2018 GSLs.
2017 had multiple Terran premier tournament winners and 2019 as well, but not to the same extent. 2018 was a weird year with Maru and Serral winning most of the premier tournaments. Maru winning all of the GSLs and Serral winning all of the WCS tournaments.
