Co-Op Mutation #510: Safety Violation

Hackers have taken control of the Kel Morian defense systems and have turned them against the miners. The mag mines have been activated, and bombs detonate seemingly everywhere. On top of that, the laser drill has begun targeting the commander’s forces. Help the miners flee so your fleets can bombard the surface from orbit.

Laser Drill - An enemy Laser Drill constantly attacks player units within enemy vision.
Mag-Nificent - Mag Mines are deployed throughout the map at the start of the mission.
Self Destruction - Enemy units explode and deal damage to friendly player units upon death.

Notes:

  • The Mag Mines cannot be attacked; but they trigger when a unit approaches them, and go in a straight line in the direction of the triggering unit. If they hit, they deal 250 damage in a mid-sized area.
  • The [Moebius Laser Drill] has 1000HP/2000Shields, 2 Armor, deals 20 damage per second, and has a range of 500.
  • Upon being destroyed, the Laser Drill [will revive after 120 seconds].
  • [Laser Drill location]
  • Running/flying a few units first to trigger the Mag Mines in an enemy base will make it safer for the rest of your units. Zerglings, Phoenixes are effective for this. Han and Horner’s precision strikes are spectacular for this job.
  • Units with Guardian Shell will not trigger the Mag Mines. However, this will give them ample time to move into position.
  • Mag Mines do not respawn upon detonation.

Like with many Brutations on ME, you may find yourself needing to make your way to the next evac ship, before the current one is done! At some point, you’ll want to clear out MM (Mag Mines) in any spare time you have.

Zagara P1 + Stukov P3 — WIN
I think we could’ve gotten the other bonus as well, but it was a judgment call

Fenix P2 + Stukov P3 — WIN
It’s neat to use Champions as minesweepers since they have massive hp pools, but also half price due to the prestige’s (+)

Swann P2 + Raynor P1 — LOSS
Setting up towers for one leg was great, but we just didn’t have the pushing power to get to evac ships in time.

Stetmann P2 + Kerrigan P0 — WIN
E-Gorb your way to victory! However, hydras and Corruptors were there for supplemental AA, and Lurkers are a staple on a map like this.

Ally had Omega Worms.

Artanis P0 + Karax P2 — WIN
Having free healing on Goons was nice. Spinlots help deal with crowds earlier on, but also add HT when you have lots of gas. We fought an air comp so I made Phoenixes. Their “double gravity beam” was nice to boot!

Ally made Sentinels, made forward Pylons with Shield Batteries, and later into Carriers. I guess I could’ve placed some Cannons for us, but it was just easier to warp in an Obs for detection, and units to deal damage.
