Co-Op Mutation #505: Rise from Ashes

The energies from the Void Slivers are making the ground unstable. Lava has begun erupting all around, and your enemies overload and explode upon death. Amon’s agents, mocking the frailty of his minions, reanimate their corpses only to march toward your base and explode. Destroy the Void Slivers to put the situation back under control.

Self Destruction - Enemy units explode and deal damage to friendly player units upon death.
Lava Burst - Lava periodically burst from the ground at random locations and deals damage to player air and ground units.
Void Reanimators - Void Reanimators wander the battlefield, bringing your enemies back to life.

Notes:

  • A [Void Reanimator] is a ground unit that walks around the map and instantly revives a single random unit every few seconds.
  • The Void Reanimator has 200HP and 200 shields, runs around without any minimap indicator, and cares not whether you killed an enemy a minute or an hour ago. He will revive it.
  • If at any point in the game, you get a seemingly endless stream of enemies, try searching up their attack path. There are probably 2-3 Void Reanimators there.
  • Lava Bursts hit air units, like in Vermillion Problem.
  • The Lava Bursts appear all around your expansion, but not in the mineral line. It is probably wise to build your expansion on-location.
  • Units that get killed leave a small red circle where self-destruction explodes after two seconds.
  • The number of circles depends on the supply count of the unit killed.
  • Void Reanimators spawn from enemy buildings. Once all enemy buildings are cleared, the reanimators will stop spawning.

1st clear Dehaka P3+Tychus P3

Mutation (Rise From Ashes) play list

Brutal clear, Swann P0 with my Lvl 12 Nova P3. Nova gives vision, Swann lasers shard and defends.

  • Neither of us expanded – Swann immediately turtled us both in base. Nova moved to nearest shard immediately upon spawn.
  • When moving Nova to shards, there are usually fewer enemies on the far side of the shard – they won’t hurt you unless you accidentally target them, but they DEFINITELY interfere when dodging lava spouts or shard AOEs.
  • For the southern shard, Nova should be safe from lava spouts in the mineral line; this can give you some breathing room to check in at home.
  • As Swann, be careful of air units attacking over the northern wall – you might need vision (Nova can drop an air unit if needed)
  • Nova can help defend by dropping siege tanks (etc) when you have a chance.
  • For the last spire or two, it can be worth it for Nova to go ahead and nuke/drone to speed things up.
  • Swann can drop combat bots and focus the shard to contribute if they’re not needed to defend.
  • Nova will need to stay mobile on the last 2-3 shards to survive. As nova, prioritize moving – it takes a while to burn down shards; the first one will be particularly close.

Swann could also make an extra Factory and float it up there for vision

This was a fun one. Was runnning mainly dehaka here.

Wasn’t gonna do this, but did have time and ended up eeking out a win on Sunday…

We came close to running out of steam for the final shard, at the top left. But his CD (Aleksander), and draining my SoA energy after a final salvo of Purifier Beam, was enough FTW!

I brought 4 Probes, but they all got wiped out due to that circular lightning thing  I at least built a couple of Monoliths, but in the future, we should’ve managed that better. Especially since I had surplus mins and gas (which could’ve been that many more Cannons, Monos, and Shield Batteries)
