1st clear Mengsk P3+Zagara P1

Any commander is probably fine this week just because it’s Void Launch. Sleepy week. Void Launch is basically 80% waiting for the attack wave to spawn.

Just don’t clear the enemy main base since that 1. could expose you to surprise Propagators. 2. gives more room for Void Rifts to spawn deep in the map. 3. shuttle conduits count as buildings for mutator spawn so clearing the targetable buildings doesn’t help you

is it true that if you get slim pickings early, you’ll run out of minerals in the late game? Well, that’s what happened to me…had to restart in order for the correct minerals to show up.

I went P2 Zagara with a random Stukov P3, had mutators like twister, incubation and black death, I barely even noticed the mutators. I still lost my expo…twice…and a ship got through.

I tried with a friend first, but, I choked hard, we had polarity and slim pickings…

Man, can’t even rush this one to avoid rolling as often. Not to my taste, that’s for sure.

I expected it to be difficult and it was not. Maybe because we found simple mutators. None Propagators, Void Rifts etc … Zagara P2 mass Scourges and free Banelings own this map and Stukov P3.

Did it at the third attempt.

First one, we got polarity and two more I dont remember. I killed what I could with Nova’s marines, but my swann ally tried to build a betty, failed, and didn’t do anything besides expanding. I tried to held with drones, but I realized he wasnt going go do anything, so I left.

Second attempt, as Swann with a underleveled Raynor I think. We did fine until the very last wave, and we got avenger (with the ling, muta comp). We got obliberated since we didn’t have huge armies. During the game I tried talking to my partner to scan the ships so I could snipe them from afar, but he just had 2 orbitals.

Third attemp, again as swann with an alarak. He lost a LOT of units due to multiple mutators, but I built many, many turrets and prayed we wouldn’t get going nuclear, and luck was on our side. Easy compared to the first games.

Who do we think is the most mutation resistant commander for this week? Abathur P2? Zagara P1? Mengsk P3? Zaratul P2? Karax P3?

After a few attempts ended up having an easy run as Tychus P2 and Stukov P1 with a decent run of mutator.

Previous attempts saw all the bad ones. The best moment was when my partner called down the Aleksandr to deal with a propagator. Lessons were learned!

Like usual: luck of the draw.

Me as P3 Stukov with Nova ally (same person all three runs).

1st attempt we were doing fine until just before the last wave when Double Edge came up followed by Transmutation. We only lost because between the 4 escort groups and the last attack wave, there were 30 hybrid converging on us… added to the fact that simply shooting at them killed our units.

2nd attempt we opened with Speed Freaks, We Move Unseen and Transmutation. We lost to the very first attack wave.

3rd attempt we were able to win with all bonuses without much trouble.

There are a total of 36 mutators in the list in the OP. And there may yet be more for all we know. Off the top of my head, Prop, Void Rifts, and Polarity are the biggest offenders, so even if I missed a few, odds should be in your favor. There are combos of them that suck, but somebody else will have to chime in about the odds there.

I never had Slim Pickings come up in “the wheel”, but I’d imagine it shouldn’t be that bad? You’ll still want to get many workers since it’ll eventually pass. In the meantime, have a few workers go around to collect crystal and gas drops (that’d be a better use for them in the mean time)

Void Rifts are hardly a problem on Wheel of Misfortune, because their 2 minute timer to appear starts from the moment the mutator switches in, not from the start of the game. By the time they switch out you get like maybe 3 waves of rifts and then they don’t spawn anymore (unless the mutator switches back later).

If slim picking shown up in early game, most likely you will see your minerals mined out in the late game. I have encountered this on previous wheel of fortune mutation week on OE.

I also did Stukov P3. And I had my Diamondbacks ready in case of Poopogators. I wasn’t ready for Fatal Attraction + Poopogators. Still, almost pulled it off.
I’m not great but at least I did take my expansion unlike my partner :smiley:

We were fine as Karax P3 and Abathur P0 until we got Transmutation, Life Leech and Diffusion.

1st game - Zagara P2 + Nova.
We got overwhelmed by Void Rifts early on

2nd game - Zagara P1 + Stukov P3
Almost made it, but letting 3 shuttles escape earlier on did us in. I got supply blocked and could make new Scourge in time :frowning: Polarity wasn’t bad since it was only at midgame.

3rd game - Zagara P1 + Tychus P0
My ally went Vega first and MC a whole mess of units. This time, I was much better about sniping shuttles with Scourge. IIRC, I think my ally even lost a few outlaws, but was able to recover.
