I’ll live with it by finding things to do that are actually fun, because this game no longer is.
Cya. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
I wonder if you’ll keep saying that when you can’t find a game due to a lack of players.
I… really doubt this. Can anybody here provide citations and metrics on just how many people were using the 180 exploit?
For this week, I’ve only had time to play this week’s mutation a few times. Mostly because I’m binging TV shows, and have my head in a few other video games, all of which take from the same, shared pool of time. FWIW, I’ve been able to get into games fairly quickly. It doesn’t seem like many people care, let alone assuming they even knew about this (this is from my observations, so that’s why I was requesting if people have more details)
I’d argue the lack of content is keeping the game from growing.
Coop was one of the few things that kept a lot of people playing, because it was the fun mode.
Well, what do you think happens when they rip the fun out of everything?
And I’m not talking exclusively about this, either. Other examples are when they nerfed commanders or prestiges making them no longer fun.
Like when they nerfed Stukov’s bunkers hard, and had to partially revert it.
And how many people play as Artanis P2 since they increased the energy cost to 25?
This was just the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.
And Biometix’s attitude shows that this isn’t going to change.
Imagine being allowed to have fun in a video game without the fun police coming in to decide whether it should be allowed.
To me, it still is fun. Ofc. this is subjective, along with some wiggle room in what’s OP, broken, balanced, etc. However, with such a large and diverse community of players, you weren’t going to be able to please everyone. you can log onto Americas or Europe, and queue up a regular Brutal game in 5 to 40 seconds. Not bad for a “dead game” whose mode dropped back in 2015 (along with the LotV expansion)
To play devil’s advocate, they buffed prestiges too like Swann P1 (target acquisition is faster, and wider AoE on slow down effect), and Karax baseline (overall reduced Solar Forge upgrades, Shadow Cannon, tower upgrades, and +50% baseline hp to combat units)
Tychus P2 and Mengsk baseline were nerfed, but even fans of those agreed with them. Lone Wolf Tychus doing +150% damage was just ridonkulous. Ditto with Mengsk being able to get a Supply Bunker, ASAP, with just half mastery pts into that.
Stukov is a good spot now. I definitely agree with others where it couldn’t stay where it was originally. 300/0/4 was just too OP. No joke… one person would just make a mass of “Bunkerlisks”, and then watch Netflix, while turning his attention back to the game every now and then to reassign the Psi Emitter location.
OTOH, Infested Marines (from Barracks) got their cost reduced from 25 to 15 mins, Diamondbacks got +1 range on their attack, P1 Tanks now generate Volatile Infested via one of their upgrades, and Brood Queens Spawn Broodling now works like Yamato Cannon (works on air and units with the Heroic tag)
And the fact that they partially reverted is a good thing. It showed that (back then), they took our feedback to heart.
This one I can give you. I never played this when it costed 10 SoA energy, but 25 is just too much. It’s a shame this couldn’t be addressed in the final round of updates.
I really want stats about the 180 exploit (which I acknowledge, may never be available, but I’m throwing it out there anyways). It feels like, only 15 people really used this. Some rather, trivial number if anything else.
Sorry to see you go, but you do need to acknowledge that going beyond 30 pts per power set was never the intention. In some ways, I’m surprised it took that long for you to get to this point, although as someone who’s also had their own “final straw” moments, I do get that.
I for one haven’t used it. To me it was missing the point of fine tuning your commanders to your playstyle and was just used as a crutch to make mutations easier.
I’m of the opinion that any unintended exploit, bug, or issue, no matter how small, helpful, or “fun” (according to the developers, and the developers alone) (and given sufficient time to catch/fix issues) should always be fixed.
Players that are going to whine and complain that their unintended strategy got nerfed/removed likely aren’t worth keeping around IMHO. Accept the game as is (and the fact that it can be changed at any time according to the whims of higher power), or gtfo. Those are your only options here.
Intentional design >>> Balance >>> Fun
Same.
Balance changes is one thing. But the 180 mastery points was a full on exploit. It’s not really something that the so-called ‘fun police’ has anything to do with.
Bliz has been known to round up and mass punish players who repeatedly abused exploits. They could have done so here if they wanted. That makes it pretty clear that it’s not a “fun police” situation.
The single worst thing is that competitive is getting new maps and changes but Co-Op is completed ignored. And I’m still mad about the Karax nerf that was uncalled for.
I enjoyed it while it lasted and it helped my playing coop up to 1000 (no custom maps) that almost kept me entertained for 3 years or more or so. My time has come. Adieu coop mode.
Do what I did: Start over on a different region! 550ish ascension so far.
I tried that. It just made me miss playing on my maxed out NA account. lol. But at least I got some COs to 15 on a different server to have fun in case we get an NA server outage last time.
Yeah I have a lvl 1000 account, and a lvl 450 account, and I never used that exploit. I remember when a friend showed me it all excited and wanted to use it every game, I was just annoyed lol.
Zag P3 really heavily benefitted from it, made her Tychus-level.
