Cant even find an arcade game, 20 mins queue, cant find a wide match game, blizzard please fix your matchmaking system
100 million smurfs and cheaters
100 million unique accounts created since OW1 beta launched.
Let’s be specific on what that number actually represents.
first day of the season and numbers were pathetic, 36000 on steam “duh but majority of people dont use steam, a site with no way to know how many people plays this game told me there are 25 million players” well no, as fas as we know steam may be the plattform with more players, we have no info that contradicts it
It’s an utter white lie, used to excite investors and potential players.
100million players since ow1 launched is more like it. Active players? Low and getting lower
Elden Ring
Tank hp nerfs and no good rewards destroyed the arcade imo. Bring OW1 hp pools in the arcade with no passives along with cosmetic rewards every week. Wont fix all problems but it’ll boost those numbers dramatically
No. It’s just objectively not. BN was the only way to play for 7 years and is usually much more convenient than Steam. Why would enough switch to make it most of the playerbase?
@topic Arcade is dead because the only good thing in it is 2cp and occasionally No Limits
battle net sucks, no need for another useless laucher just for one game, better on steam, blizzard relased the game there on a desperate attempt to get players and failed miserably, like the whole overwatch 2, however we dont know how many play this game so no, objectively nothing
60 milliion of those are OW1 accounts transferred over to OW2 because the old game was removed
And I wonder how much of the remaining 40m accounts are alts/cheaters etc lol.
There is no way you just said that LOL
How is a launcher like BN with barely any games more convenient to use over Steam where you can have your whole game library in one place instead of tons of different launchers?
If you play with steam, you can see what other players are playing from steam. Usually in average there are 2-3 player from steam out of 10. So if Steam is 20k the total player count should be around 200k. But yeah, it takes too much time to find a game to be 200k. The game is too much fragmented
You think the game is “dead” because a weird Arcade (probably off peak for sure) mode has 20 min queues? Bruh.
Yes, there are too many queues but to be fair, the “normal” ones are working fine so
That’s still 40m new players since 2021 lol.
I went looking for some stats, here are the playercount stats that I could find:
- August 2016 - 15 million
- October 2017 - 35 million
- May 2018 - 40 million
- November 2019 - 50 million
- May 2021 - 60 million
- June 2024 - 100 million
Basically, if we operate under the assumption that the “100 million” number is “users that have played Overwatch 1 or Overwatch 2 at any point, ever”, OW2 is still growing faster than Overwatch 1 ever did.
We are in the equivalent of 2017 for Overwatch 2 right now. The only real differences are community sentiment (mainly driven by loud, burnt-out influencers) and the fact that there is way more live-service competition now than in 2017.
Also, somewhat unrelated - it shows that OW1 fell off hard in 2017, not 2018 (which is the more common consensus). It’s not a coincidence that planning for OW2 started that year, likely in response to plummeting sales and a need to rethink the entire business model for Overwatch after Fortnite changed the live-service industry.
you are making this crap, you have no way to have an estimate of how many play this game and how many are on steam, is what you think, but you are based what you said on absolutelly nothing. i for example think this game have no more than 300000 players, daily or every month, impossible, just got 30 minutes on queue to play the new map
Out of the 50 or so people in my friends list maybe 2 of them play arcade. I forget that arcade even exists. No wonder the queues are long because nobody plays arcade. Not to mention out of then 20 people that actually play arcade, everyone of them has their own preferred arcade mode.
The arcade queues being long has nothing to do with matchmaking, it’s just that most people don’t enjoy paying arcade.
play in a wide match, get a long queue. It’s a trade off and many players avoid wide groups because match quality goes down. It is what it is.
Its 100m accounts created since OW 1, not 100m active players.
I know at least three of those accounts are mine so I know they’re lying
I like 3v3 Elimination
The only one making baseless assumptions is you
If you actually read what they said, STEAM PLAYERS CAN SEE WHO ELSE IS PLAYING ON STEAM
Which is more than enough to extrapolate a rough estimate of how many actual players there are via steam numbers and gathering the number of unique steam users to unique none steam users over a course of many games, the more games data recorded, the more precise the estimations.
Though that goes against your BS narrative though, so you’ll ignore it, or make up some horseship reason as why it’s wrong, when it’s not. You just dont want to accept the reality that the game isn’t as dead as you claim.
Also you say this:
As if 300,000 is bad? That still would put it in the top 10 on steam.
