"Your bad at widow, switch"

Nothing better to shut those people up by saying nothing but “lul its qp calm down”.

Won’t ever not be entertaining.

There is a balance in this, learning widow is also learning to switch off when you just get deleted over and over then you won’t learn much, and learning something that can carrie in that situation can help you but the other part of learning though is also pushing the boundary of when you can play her and push thru.

You need to practice in a real match but don’t neglect aim trainers, widow hs , try hard ffa or aim arena those are a lot better to learn matchups and aiming.

you should also practice in comp if you play enough your rank should balance out and people should be on your widow only level.

Because it’s annoying to see that stupid “defeat screen” every single time…

okay, and? let people learn, not everyone has been playing this game since ow1 launch, losing doesnt have any impact besides how good you feel about yourself, being nice to people goes a much longer way, you dont need to be bothered by losing especially if theres someone learning on your team

To parrot what others are saying. The AI mode is not helpful for this. Even on it’s hardest settings, the AI mode is really really easy compared to a normal match. And when training aim for Widow, the worst part about AI mode is the bots are very predictable. You need some erratic movements that only humans make to learn Widow.

This is not true and Blizzard has said so many times. You can play a character for the first time in comp and it’s not an actionable offense.

IMO it’s a terrible idea and you should play that character in QP first to get some experience. But it’s not and never has been gameplay sabotage. It sucks and I’d advise against anyone doing it, but it’s not against the rules.

you can also pratice in arcade there plenty of gamemode to train your aim without ruining the game for 4 other ppl…

In comp I agree, one should try and play the characters they are best with.

However QP is where you are expected to learn new characters to expand your own personal hero pool for competitive.

As long as you try your best to win then it’s fine. The only thing you get for losing QP is slightly less XP.

that was my logic before we got the workshop… nowdays i think the workshop is the place to learn new things and try weird stuff

Fair. In QP, people should be allowed to play who they want. I will however say that you shouldn’t try to force Widow in comp. Some maps don’t have good sightlines for Widow and sometimes the team composition also requires a level of frontline presence.

For instance, I got into a match on Esperanca the other day with a Widow and a Tracer and it was so not working because you need at least some team presence around the bot and a single tank, even when getting healed by both supports (and they did because well… when your two dps are miles away from the fight trying to get a sick flank, of course the tank who’s actually contesting the bot is gonna get all the heals) simply can’t stand up to an entire enemy team and when I mentioned that the team comp wasn’t working and that we needed another frontliner to contest the bot, the Widow got toxic.

So, play all the Widow you like in Quick Play, even when you’re not great at her, but if you are playing ranked, please consider the map, the gamemode and the rest of the team comp.

The ability to take out an enemy with a single shot is very powerful, but you pay for it by not being present at the objective, so unless you can get consistent kills, your team is basically down a player if you pick widow.

Okay, then im gonna play dps moira. Cause im doing nothing wrong, just wanna prctice this playstyle

Well to be fair, simply playing widowmaker isn’t “weird stuff.” It’s simply playing a character you’re unfamiliar with.

Custom games and arcade don’t have the structure of QP or comp usually so it’s pretty unreliable as far as learning characters go. At least imo it seems unreliable and doesn’t help people learn.

As far as rules are concerned, you aren’t doing anything wrong at all. Not the optimal way to play her, but if it’s QP I don’t mind if you play DPS Moira.

QP have no real structure…the only thing you have to learn on widow is how to aim. and there plenty of aim trainer for that. the rest is not a widow only thing. like positioning and things like that can be learned on EVERY HERO even those you are familiar with. basically dont play widow if you dont have 50% accuracy… people dont ask for that much imo. not sure why you try to defend ruining the game for 4 other people…kinda weird.

QP has the closest rule set to comp.

Also QP has little to no stakes for winning or losing so I find it weird you take it so seriously that someone playing Widow poorly is ruining your experience. It’s the casual mode, you’re going to get people who are bad at the game. Despite my rank I get a lot of new players. Nothing I can do about it, I just have fun playing focusing on my own gameplay.

TL;DR - it’s just QP, take it easy

It’s a game. Pick the hero you want to play. Play the hero you want to play. Turn off chat Ignore people who may or may not even be as good as you are. ::shrug:: Being a new player in this game absolutely sucks. I get that. Many of us have thousands of hours in OW1. And most of us that do , forget that we were TRASH at certain heros. Heck some of us don’t realize we think we are great at heros and are still trash at the game. So in other words don’t play any attention to them. Do what you need to do to make the game fun for you.

normal gamers want to win no matter the game mode… you queue qp and hope to lose? THATS KINDS WEIRD!!! loser mentality to the fullest am i rite???

thats a good way to get reported and suspended

I queue for QP just hoping to play a quick game for fun.

I sweat in comp. If that doesn’t make me a true gamer then I’m okay with it.

Not against the rules to play badly or ignore comms. Blizzard has stated this countless times. Even says it in the report screen.

False reporting IS actionable thoughl.

Even in QP no one wants to get screwed over by you “practicing” :woman_shrugging:

No, people need to do it more often, so this game falls apart. Less newbies there will be to fill Kotick’s deep pockets, better everyone would be.

I think that the issue arises when some people treat QP as comp, since they don’t play comp. I think it’s a good thing to practice heroes in QP and I also understand why people still want to win in QP. Unfortunately sometimes this will happen.
