You know whats missing... more Armor based characters, especially Tanks/Supports

Basically, all shield tanks use energy barriers right? and even Brig uses an energy shield. But where is a Shield that is armor based, Like a solid shield?

My idea is the shield is made of Nanites (ant sized robots with little shields on their back), and you “chip away” at it. So basically it would say have 500 Armor overall, since Armor is stronger then Barriers right? Damage Reduction and all that. So it wouldn’t need to be much, maybe increase it if it really doesn’t last long enough.

As you chip away, the shield would decrease in size. The Tank that uses it will be an Omnic that can create more (regen on shield health) and that happens when damage stops for a while, like other shields. it has a pulse fire weapon similar to Baptiste, but they are slug rounds, being it needs to be quite close range, and they can do crit damage. 100 body, 150 crit.

There is a stun where they slam the ground that stops the characters own movement for half a second, but it’s a 360 stun that stops others for about the same amount of time as most other stuns.

Due to the nanite tech, they are the only tank with armor that can regen their own armor. Not normal health though, just like with say Zarya.

Their ultimate is their shield into a giant half sphere, but they are immobile while doing so. This larger shield has sections, the centre part had the original healthy, but each section as you go out has less and less health. 500 centre, 400, 300, 200, 100. basically represents the density and spread of the nanites over the circumference of the sphere and all that. There will be a visual representing these via lighter shades of the based colour of the character, was thinking the purple used by the the Null Sector. Yeah I was thinking it would be the new and most advanced Omnic yet on the side of the Null Sector. But was also thinking it was so advanced, it had it’s own free will, as in it developed into an AI, rather then a programmed mind, and started to decide it’s own fate. Possibly due to the nanites becoming a kind of “hive mind” within it.

It’s name would be Legion.

And the Support idea…

They would throw healing stations with small armor barriers, they “shoot” the healing into you, and last for only a certain amount of time, and only heal one character at a time. The other method of healing is through a passive AOE, But it’s only activated when at least one healing station is up. The passive AOE is slightly weaker then Lucio’s, to compensate for the fact that the healing station is protected by a armor barrier. It has 150 health.

They have a lay spikes ability, so as the enemy steps on them, they take damage. They disappear once they deal a certain amount of damage. They also have a grapple.

This is yet another Omnic/Robot, and their ultimate is becoming physical armor for another character. They add 300 armor to whoever is wearing them. They also give a slight speed boost of 10%. It lasts 8 seconds.

These are just rough ideas. Have you guys thought of anything that would make a nice fresh change to OW?

I agree.

But armour is more resistant to damage.

Having a healer that’s more resistant to damage is going to piss a lot of people cough cough flank dps mains off because they usually prefer supports to be easy kills for them.

That’s why they all hate moira because she’s strong against flankers that get flustered. Brig has armour and we know how much everyone hated brig.

I just wouldn’t want another healer to be released that everyone falls in love with only for them to be gutted into oblivion again.

It’s probably not realistic to assume players would take well to armour based supports.

We don’t need armor, in fact more armor is a really bad idea

We need blast armor, or a reduction in burst damage

I do have a hero concept with this exact thing in mind

While I’m surprised we don’t have another Armor based Tank, I think we should keep our Armor based support designated to Brig. Now we do however need a SHIELD based support now that Sym is a DPS.

The issue with armor is that it renders certain hero’s damage useless, like Reaper, Tracer, Torb, Hog. There’s a reason Reaper is usually garbage, he is supposed to bust tanks, but tanks have armor and armor reduces his damage by something like 40%. Too much armor and these heroes will never see play time.

NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I just wish they “brought in” Ana’s scoping “helpfulness” and let her hit head shots again… then… then i’d go back to healing a lot more. but yeah… I just want a lot more options already and the dev’s are slow as all heck trying to “over balance” <-- or use that as a excuse to release slower. The more hero’s there are the better the game will feel because there will be more options to counter with, more options that feel fun and… yeah i think they need to finally admit the counter for counter crap doesn’t work in ladder at all it works kinda in overwatch league… but those are two different beasts.
