6v6ers are in for a rude awakening lol
as far as I know, no forum members have the knowledge and/or authority to legitimately make such a statement
none of us know enough about the new 6v6 to make such an evaluation of it
Thatâs because of a lot of one tricks and overall a refusal to try anything not DPS. Which is partly the fault of the game devs. If a role doesnât seem appealing, people wonât play it. So of course when people see a large roster of flashy, cool looking DPS dudes and dudettes who do a lot of damage and cool stuff, theyâre all going to flock to it. Theyâll likely settle on one they really like, and thatâs it. Thatâs why we had so many Widow, Tracer, Soldier76, Cassidy, etc OTPâs.
DPS is still the longest queue time, even if itâs shrunk down quite a bit. It always will be, unless they royally gut Tanks, itâs already competing with length on queue times with DPS most days as is.
Maybe they always planned to bring back 6v6 after tank and support got way more heroes. Could also explain why theyve added so many dps supports
I want to say I doubt it, because they seemed pretty confident in their direction of 5v5. As toxic orâŚweird as the forums can be, many people have suggested actual changes to heroes that might have made a real difference, but were pretty much written off or just ignored. Blizzard used to have an active presence in the forums, they noticeably stopped really showing up much around 2018 I believe.
So whatever their plan was, all we know is what we have now.
Over 5v5 role queue, anything is a massive improvement. Thatâs kind of the problem.
Iâm not saying Role queue is the way to go, but the fact is theyâve also stated doing role queue over role lock, which is different to what we had previously. I preferred open queue personally and didnât really want role lock when we got it, but completely understood the reasoning behind it overal. That doesnât mean I wonât take what I can get, however.
Yea, that quote worked out so well the first time.
I am convinced some of you choose to be moronic on purpose lol.
Completely agree. It has to be 6v6 OQ, or we will still be in a bad place.
Imagine that they would have to rebalance all heroes - no matter what the role - to be fairly in range power-wise with each other.
Good luck doing that from here, with the new heroes having powercrept this thing to the moon, not the least in mobility.
The hard tank meta issues wonât be as bad in ow2 as they were in 1 because there is more tanks. And the more tank heroes that release in the future will ease this problem further.
8 tank heroes in ow1 made for 28 different combinations of heroes to play.
12 tanks makes 66 different combinations. Just one more hero release (13 tanks) makes that 78. 2 more makes it 91 etc.
The increase to combinations of tank heroes increases greater with each extra hero.
The more combinations there are, the more potential synergies should arise to counter or at least counter play the top dog synergy.
Not to mention thatâs all extra gameplay variety, making each game a more differing experience to the last. Solo tank is so stale because of this lack of variety.
Also, this was never an issue for me at my rank in ow1. I hardlined Rein in gold & plat and had a tonne of fun. Regardless of the meta. I didnât care if i had flanking roadhogs. Those janky combos work in my casual rank.
I think OQ is the way to go considering 5v5 RQ will still exist and it is objectively a less problematic RQ solely because of Q times.
5v5 OQ is a broken game mode and 6v6 OQ could replace it.(Some could miss 5v5 OQ but we could safely ignore those tank abusers)
Also, 6v6 OQ means all heroes are balanced equally without roles and hassles. That means it could be the default balance for all other game modes except RQ and this is a huge W for OW. So, I hope 6v6 OQ will be the default OW balance and then a special extra balance only for RQ.
I remember getting a 15 min queue for quick play onceâŚ
QUICK PLAY
Are you unaware that they arenât doing 6v6 role lock? They already said theyâre going to be experimenting with the queue format to avoid those dps queues. Besides, we have significantly more tanks now. People click with heroes not roles. The more heroes a role has the more people are going to play it. Hense why dps is the most played role. A large part of that reason is because it has the largest roster.
6v6 was just way more fun and if they donât bring it back, tank loses a ton of its already small population to marvel rivals and then you have 20 minute dps queues in 5v5 anyway so its inevitable. 6v6 will return and its going to be way more popular than 5v5 ever was.
Thatâs dead game territory for me, personally. Like not playable, move on from it if thatâs queues for quick play. Iâm unfortunate enough to really like ranked and have long support queue times already so I dread 6v6
Tbf it was when OW1 was in maintenance mode. And it was probably at like 3am too . But stillâŚquick play
And thats why it killed the game.
