nerf what?
she was already nerfed anywhere that could be nerfed over yrs.

to point shes in a place of “yes she can do the support role, but barely”.

her primary healing is ST yet also the weakest main heal (thats not zen’s but then again hes also not channeling it and can do dmg)

dmg boost? again ST and needs target actually able to hit stuff (problematic at lower tiers)

rez? already been gutted in every way possible and tied for longest cd (i.field).

gun? unless ur 5ft from target easy to dodge as they are slow.

ult? gives her basically moira healing for a couple seconds or dmg boost for a coupel seconds…and if u try fly in sky ur getting sniped.

Mercy legit got 2 hp/s and thats all that changed from ow1 to ow2.

She is weak compared to most other supports.

so tell me what can be nerfed? she has nothign in excess.

Being honest DPS should just be fully projectile based because no other projectile can shine at all excluding Echo or Hanzo(He feels like a hitscan). Wasting time creating projectile base heroes

I’m more on the line of thinking that the devs should have some understanding on the minimum and maximum values for damage, health and healing. They just need to figure out the value of mobility (defensive and offensive) and defensive abilities (sustainability) and create rules in place that characters should not go under or past certain values based on a base blank character that they use for what would be the average they want.

Unfortunately they are all but focused on statistics as a measurement of the character’s usefulness, so…

I don’t think they would have buffed Sojourn otherwise. I’m assuming it’s because no one is really playing her since we don’t all have passive aimbot capabilities

theres a BIG difference between balancing the weapon output of few dozen weapons (which pretty much anyone can access) and balancing entire (weapon) kits + abilities with several different types of functionalities…and all their interactions…

like its not even remotely comparable…cod relative to OW has NOTHING to balance…take TWO ow heroes and its a more complex game to balance than cod…

true, but there is plenty to balance
not that they did a good job at it, looking at you sniper rifle that was basically a dmr

I would argue the power baseline hasn’t even been set yet so it’s silly to worry about power crept until it has.

I expect the dust will begin to settle during Beta 2 and be clear by Beta 3. But right now, with how many reworks have been done and how many more are still to come, there’s no sense fussing about such a heavily under-preforming new hero being buffed so people actually play her. Technically, half the buffs were just nerf reverts from the Alpha anyway.

Ummmm, did you not see the big dmg nerf he got?

Consistency still wins games. Their point was that you would nurf him even more if you wanted Sojourn to see play.
Example) A sprint meter like diva matrix and an 8 second rocket
Soldier is pretty balanced right now (in the usual hitscan meta sense) but still one of the best to pick from in a 5v5 format
Lots of mobility + sustain + 6 second body rocket with splash aoe

Instead from what I’m hearing, they buffed her again to make players pick her in OWL so they see new heroes being used frequently and players don’t see the same old comps.
It’s like putting your own creation on a pedistal instead of bringing the power level of other hitscans down
(which would have increased the quality of life for everyone, especially projectile mains).

Well, OW1 is dead, that’s for sure. Remix is clearly a goodbye event and to make sure you farm skins going to the next game. OW2 is gonna go into some suspended animation a month after the PvP part comes out and maybe PvE is gonna bring some life into it.

Who said anything about that? Train wrecks are fun to watch from the outside.

You know the things are bad when even the beta fails to impress.

What was even the point of all these changes if the game is still in a similar mess?

Tons of people are enjoying the beta. Also it’s the first beta that is clearly missing features, will have further changes, missing heroes, maps etc. Some people like the shift to 5v5, others don’t. Such is life.

yeah except the goal should be to make it better for most of the playerbase otherwise it is wasted resources just to make something that still has a mixed reaction.

We don’t know if most of the playerbase likes it or not. People are more likely to complain about something than to say they like it. Also the forums is a very small part of the playerbase, and again, it’s an incomplete game.

Sure people are more vocal about stuff that they don’t like but if your beta has that many people who are telling you that you are doing it wrong, that is already a red flag.

They want sojourn because she checks all the boxes-

Okay?

Well, see you next BETA then.

Because she sucked. The top players were basically in unanimous agreement about this. Blizz did nerf Soldier and he was still better.

All those alpha tier lists you saw about Sojourn being S tier reflected a version of the character we never played; she was bugged and doing more damage than intended during alpha. The bug was fixed and then she was overnerfed on top of it by the time beta was released.

Buffing a hero isn’t powercreep necessarily. Powercreep is when a team’s maximum collective output of a stat or quality increases. For instance Bap outputs more damage than any other support besides Zen in OW1. Thus, Bap and Zen combined output more total damage than any two supports could do before Bap’s release, making his introduction an instance of powercreep for damage.
