Hey guys
Something I fail to understand here with this 2-2-2 discussion is the following…
If y’all think its so good and awesome then why was it never used in comp by you guys? You always had the option to form a team of 2 dps, 2 healers, 2 tanks without Activision now FORCING it down your throats.
However you CHOSE not to, by your own free will to run a 2-2-2 comp.
Why?
Because of your constant demands for Blizzard to ENFORCE 2-2-2 they now have done it. THey now are forcing something that was already possible if you had chosen to use it.

It is an upgrade from LFG for various reasons.
1: You no longer have to deal with hosts that kick out 90% of the players because they only want people who they think will be able to boost them.
2: You no longer have a bunch of randoms that made a stack playing against other stacks (which may or may not be random).
3: You no longer have to spend time trying to find or form a team to begin with which means more time playing and less time waiting.
You get the point…

We had the option, but did anyone feel like waiting 10 minutes for a group that will leave after one game? I sure didn’t.

Unless you’re queuing as DPS.

There are only a few 2-2-2 comps that are well-balanced enough to play against triple tank or triple DPS comps. You can choose to play 2-2-2 if you like, but you’ll get rofflestomped by GOATS or Sombra GOATS because randomly picking two of each role doesn’t magically make a good comp that can withstand an actually good comp.
Also, LFG was always trash. Nobody used it to actually form pickup groups and play matches, it was basically “can five people join my group and carry me??”.

Damn. It’s getting harder and harder to distinguish bait from legitimate nonsense…

Oof, so now it will be a normal queue time. Nice.

This is the crux of the problem right here. The failures of LFG have been discussed to death. Any rational person should understand why it failed. You fail to understand because you refuse to listen to what others are saying.
So your thread is a waste of thought. Discussion with you is pointless.

Good news! You can choose to play Classic QP and get all you want!
Have fun! Glad I could help.

At the moment, DPS and Supports have the same queue times at <10 min (at least from the times that I’ve played; late evening EST). Only Tanks have a quicker turnaround (understandably).

A very small percentage of OW players actually participate in the PTR unfortunately so the queue times from there aren’t going to be the same as on live.

In all honestly, 3/2/1, was fine. Its just when you get to this 4/1/1, 5/1/- or 6/-/- mentality the game gets annoying as hell. Many people have just been willing to run 4/1/1 or the worst sets and it sort of ruins ever having the ability to 2/2/2.
Hence if the playerbase after 3 years cannot generally pull themselves together to do that its forced upon the player base because as usual you cannot trust the masses.

You’re right. In fact, queue times could possibly be better on live than people are predicting. We simply wont know until it’s implemented.

…? What’re you talking about? How do you know those people didn’t form those groups? And how do you know anything about the groups people formed? Are you some all seeing Zenyatta eye in the sky following everyone’s groups?
Again, how do you know? Do you have statistics? Can you prove I didn’t run a 2-2-2 in comp? Where are your sources?
Uh. Also false considering people make demands of Blizzard all the time and they don’t follow through. You acting like we have some kind of iron glove over Blizzard is silly.

Because if you ran a 2-2-2 comp you would just get smacked into a loss by a 3-3 GOATS comp?
Have you not been following the meta this past year in ladder or OWL or…?
If it was as simple as just “going 2-2-2” no one would be playing 3-3.

If anything, this should smooth out the queues more. I think the peak player count in each role will be way less evenly distributed, though, so I’d expect to see tanks mainly struggling to find groups in diamond and above, but DPS will be struggling between bronze and plat.
LFG and the 222 system on the way are totally different from each other in their core design. Sure on the surface it seems the same but that’s acting as if renting a home and owning a paid off home are the same.
Being in both cases you just happen to be living in a house.
Also lets not forget that easy wins suck too. This seems to be over looked all the time but running over a team being they did not have one single tank player is/was pretty lame too. Hopefully per role SR and role lock will help with that also.
The team always had the option. One player can go Healer or Tank and the rest might go 4DPS. Solo healing and tanking as many has said is often one of the worst. A single player didn’t have the option to go 222. A single player often didn’t have any say in what the other players would be playing.
I am honestly iffy about 222. I will miss solo healing, 2 healer 1 tank 3 dps comps, etc. But saying that us, as individual players, had any control over the choices of our teammates, that we could warrant a 222 anytime, is just a farce.
