I feel it would be very snowball’y. Losing a single member becomes that much more detrimental when tanks/healing can let you stall long enough to get a fight going again. Ultimates would have fewer counters in general and staggering ults to get number advantage to keep the enemy team down repeatedly for each fight would prevent many characters from getting ultimate.
maybe in certain maps with additions of more health packs, shorter death cooldown (cause everyone gonna die A LOT), shorter travel time back to point (again, everyone gonna die A LOT). it could be fun but maybe a bit difficult in places like 2CP. i think retouching KOTH maps would be ideal for that as an arcade mode!
I’d play it. And no QPC and comp OQ are not the same. There is always at least one tank or healer. That is what makes it uneven. If tanks and healer would be completely locked out it would be different. It would probably be the mode I would play the most honestly. Would be a way to clear the role queues of excess dps.
Except no limits is fundamentally different. If you are attack you can bet there is a 70% chance that the defense team is either all torb or a mix of torb and sym. It has even weirder balance than just an all dps with role limits would be.
Isn’t open queue comp already that?
Weaker characters are picked less, stronger characters are picked more.
Usually following a nerf of a meta hero, win rate will drop for a little while, and then pick rate will drop and win rate will climb back to its prior level or even a little higher. This is how the stats reflect all the people who were just playing the meta bailing out until the hero is only being picked by mains or for ideal situations.
If win rate remains low even after the pick rate has dropped back to just “best case” usage, that strongly suggests the hero was over-nerfed and is now under powered.
Definitely not.
But I’d definitely play the heck out of a “No Damage” mode.
Only Tanks and Supports. Thankfully, all of this is possible in Open Queue.
Not gonna lie, I’d play it. Give all the heroes passive health regen if they don’t take damage for a period of time so people don’t have a reason to beg for Soldier and I’m in.
Wasn’t useful with it to begin with to be honest, Dragonstrike is just a area denial ultimate more than anything, it’s better to combo Sigma’s ultimate with Grav.
Its called Call of Duty.
For free cp points? Yes. For any other reason? No.
With the way Overwatch is set up, it honestly doesn’t sound that fun.
Other fps titles are far better dps only experiences.
Guess it would be a neat arcade mode for some people.
Nah, between Mystery Heroes and QPC, we’ve all already experienced how pure DPS ends up going and we already have all the Deathmatch modes.
It’s only really enjoyable with a team of pure flankers and self-sustaining heroes, any of the DPS who are more reliant on Tanks and Supports have a really hard time. And even to the extent that it can be fun, it’s still more fun to have some good Tanks and Supports backing you up.
You can do that on game browser and the players could provide some feedbacks. We got a workshop too(but I’m not familiar with it)
About the “battle between” 2-2-2 or open:
I pick qp classic and open comp against 2-2-2 qp / comp anytime. Because it’s not fun for me seeing my team going south and can’t do much about it (if they’re bad DPS I provide more damage, if they’re bad healers I provide more healing or get more sustain, if they’re bad tanks I push creating oportunities for my team.
It’s easy to point fingers when someone does something wrong, but change your role and make your team get the victory it’s awesome feeling, because one hero change and some initiative, you can change how your entire team plays. 2-2-2 don’t provide this much, because someone could be bad at DPS but could do better stuff as tank or healer, and he doesn’t even know or have chance to try that. Some would say 5 dps or GOATS, but they have weaknesses if you know how play against them. Most of the time my games it’s about 3-2-1, 3-1-2, 1-3-2, 1-2-3 and 2-1-3. It’s really fun to play.
Try on Gamebrowser and maybe create a thread on here, I think would be a good start to try out your idea.
no reason to have objectives at that point. just make it a tdm mode. maybe that will funnel more would-be call of duty fans away from structured content
I guess my vision for this is something closer to what TF2 is like. There’s no “Main Tank” role in TF2. Only the Medic has anything that resembles healing and barriers, and characters aren’t really reliant on it.
No.
Just make a game mode thats 6v6 soldier only. Give a sort of Call of Duty vibe.
maybe if you removed more than half the dps roster, removed some abilities and ultimates.
then yeah maybe then.
No, I wouldn’t, because that’s just “generic shooter.” Not “Overwatch.”
