Wonder why nobody likes support

Unranked (QP and MH) and Comp, from Silver to Plat, regular hours from 14h to 22h in EU.
Im also watching multiple streamers from several timezones in US and different ranks mate, yes, its pretty much universal.

Some people have even lower queues … but higher? Nah.
Only seen closer to 10 mins for people that are T500 like Dafran at 2am in their zone.

“Play of the game” indicates a key moment during said match. This can be everything, saving teammates during an enemy ult is a great example, but not get rewarded with a potg.

The only time I got a Zen potg without fragging 3+ people with headshots was literally when I tranced my team trough 4 enemy Ults at the same time and had 3k+ healing due to a well placed friendly Ana nade into the grav

In 6 years, I’ve gotten POTG as Mercy twice (once in MH because I had my pistol out) and never as Ana. (granted I’m not a good Ana)

I mean, I once nano-boosted our Winston who killed three people, including an ulting Pharah (!), meanwhile I dumped hundreds of hp into him and slept the enemy Dva into the well and chased away a Tracer.

I didn’t even get a highlight

Because pressing Q is so thrilling to watch.

The reasons why people dont play support is because theyll rather be a (Main protagonist/hero dps) They are insecure about themselves and want their own team to praise them. Just let them be.

Seeing enemy players caught off guard/knowingly witnessing themselves perish in a flurry of rockets, bullets, slashes, explosions, blunt impacts, etc is way more entertaining than seeing a health bar fill up, negating an attack with a sudden boost, or having lifesaving healing dealt outside of your FOV because you’re looking in a direction 30° away from the recipient.

I get the rationale behind the on-paper argument, in practice it’s far less applicable.

Not only is this poetic, it’s art

Doesn’t help that their arsenal is terrible with awkward projectile and attack speeds with Moira and Kirko being the only supports with weapons that can get pretty close to a DPS’s weapon.

Also for POTG it’s rigged ult shutdown and elims dictate who gets it if you killed 4 players you’re gonna get it even if it was your braindead ultimate that got you it but if someone else gets 4 kills but someone happened to be ulting during that time it’s theirs. Supports rough and this game is unrealistic when it comes to demanding teamwork and sadlly when you pick up the mantle of support you’re kinda just throwing yourself to the wolves and RN-Jesus.

Ye the problem comes when in practice, we see multiple POTGs of Afk or dead Torb/Sym and its weird that the Zen BodyBlocking a Rein charge with Trans and saving 3 dudes doesnt get it, because it was a bit far from the objective and the molten core was on top of the payload.

Its a flawed system but sure, generally DPS plays are more flashy.

understandable. But it just a big part of the problem, mostly that supporting and healing is extremly important, but simply is not treated as impactful by the game itself.

I mean, I bet there are a lot DPS mains don’t even know they are low on HP often times and only recognize if they actually die, but not when they just got healed up. I mean, Blizzard literally put in a daily challange of thanking your supports for healing you… just saying, this says more than thousand words.

As someone who works in a hospital, I find your opinion very subjective and opinionated.

Saving lives is far more intense for many people.

Anyone can take a life. But saving someone is something special.

It often requires bravery, sacrifice, expert knowledge, and execution under extreme pressure.

It’s a shame it doesn’t get near the attention it deserves in game.

Shocking I know. If you watch the “mainstream” owl stream then yeah obviously what’s most interesting to the casual audience is the reaper/sojourn popping and killing the entire team. The winston who has to meticulously traverse cooldowns and make it possible for the dps to pop or the supports who have to position, manage cooldowns, dps, heal, etc. etc. is not as immediately flashy like idk man

potg is dps biased but like idk man it’s an fps. potgs aren’t a motivator for me personally. The “saved” stat and notification is a move in the right direction though. That is so cathartic

As someone who works in a Mortuary and Funeral Home, I like how this man thinks.

Our monkey neurons don’t activate as well when a hero just doesn’t die so no one notices any saves.

We notice when Reaper mows down 4 players with Death Blossom, but the Ana is just doing her job when she pumps healing shots into the tank to get him through it.

I get a lot of Brigitte PotGs still. Usually by pushing harder than I should during a Rally and getting a lot of final hits. PotG has nothing to do with supporting and everything to do with showing you killing enemies.

Yeah i dont play her at all because i like to use/practice my aim. im just saying she gets lumped as a “braindead hero” because noobs gravitate towards her when she does have a decent amount of depth

Keeping people alive can be seen as providing a greater potential result rather than taking a life away.

There’s more life yet to happen instead of whatever terrible things were avoided by putting an advesary down.

Cavemen like the feeling of their club braining something. That gene hasn’t left us.

Also, green numbers are cool.

Just like every other POTG for other roles too… which is why I leave on defeat/victory screen

the same stuff we’ve seen hundreds of times lol nothing interesting

Every single PotG I’ve had as Zen or Bap involved kills and very minimal (sometimes ZERO) healing or teammate saves.

I hate when a PotG shows me just clicking heads.
