I actually think it’s the opposite now and that Winton counters the egirl especially after they made his weapon ignore armour and reverted the armour to how it was in ow1 Dva barely scratches him now and she can’t do anything to block wintons damage.
Juno is in the game for QP as well and Winston does quite well against all supports. Especially one with her set of traits, so I’m not surprised Winston is being seen.
I’m going to need more than a personal opinion on that, we can’t just go around talking out our necks

Disrupting a team comp and getting people to focus on him is value. That is literally every tanks value
Reaper does 5.4 damage raw per pellet, post armour change it now does 2.7
Goes from 108 damage per shot to 54 damage pershot
Bastion turret mode went from 12 damage to 7 damage (before the season 11 tank armour buff), im not sure what the new value is, but its definitely lower than 7 per shot now (360 damage per second → 300 damage per second on the prebuff armour change)
Winston’s tesla ignores armour, has a 25% headshot reduction and he got a 200 health increase on primal, yes you can still melt him if he just stands out in the open, but the buffed armour changes means he can soak up more damage without exploding like before, whilst bubble dancing to maximise his potential

If it’s QP, there’s no real meta. Probably playing him because that’s the only place you can play him without soft throwing given how they giga buffed other tanks.
Not to be that guy, but you’re calculating as if armor did nothing before. Bastion went from dealing 8.4 damage per shot to 7 and now 6 damage. It’s not nearly that drastic.
yes its not as drastic, but with so many buffs in favour of winston, its not as free to switch to bastion and melt him like before

Still the biggest target in the game with the weakest shield.
CCis brutal on Winston, timing your engagents is crucial, proper positioning prevents him from picking off isolated players.
Check on your team and keep track of where the gorrilla is at all times. Start hitting the enemy hard wgen Bubble is down. Popping the first bubble and having him forces to use the second one is a significant ability trade.
Bastion, Mauga, Sym all burst bubble easily. DO NOT IGNORE BUBBLE! Its coverage is huge and will block shots. What pros do is when a Winston jumps everyone is locked and loaded and they pop that bubble instantly. So shoot the dang bubble. Even a Sombra can crack it reliably and you don’teven have to aim. Faster you get the bubble down the quicker monkey dies.
Make every dive for Winston a trap. Be ready for when he does thats like 6 seconds of mayhem you can force onto the enemy tank. And we all know if the enemy tank is dead you start winning.
Sombra’s can burst bubbles instantly and hack a winston a couppe seconds after he lands to ensure he stays put. Any kind of CC is sueful here to displace Winston and force him to make mistakes such as chasing weakened targets.
As much as a Winston thrives on teamwork to succeed you still need a decent level of teamwork to ensure he doesn’t go on a rampage.
So quit going Brigitte or Lucio, so unless you boop them every time, its not worth it.
The most annoying supports for me are those that are nonengaging or interactive.
IE Bap because lamp, Kiriko because teleport and suzu, Mercy who has more mobility then a jet, Ana because her CC is stupid and stops fights completely, Illari because pylon is just dumb.
Winston is not that strong. He can be, but most of the times, and this is a secret from us Winston mains, you do it to yourself.
So many ways to stop him and yet…Winston’s best strength is taking advantage of an enemy’s mistake. Whether it be the basics of positioning, lacl of teamwork, or just being too stubborn to play right with counterswap or good ability usage.
He, in my experience, makes Juno a lot less fun when facing him. While also he benefits greatly from her speed boost on the same team. Juno could be a contributor to his rise.
He counters Sigma (can damage through barriers).

After the armor buff Dva cant even soft counter him.
Still in every match. Just jumps in, walks all over multiple people and slaughters them all with no effort, effortlessly chases anyone that tries to escape with his WAY TOO LOW jump cooldown and survives stupid out of position mistakes by pressing Q.
Nothing counters him anymore and he fears nothing. He just jumps ontop of Bastion and obliterates him, jumps right up to Reaper and chases him around the map if he tries to escape, stands right in Ram’s face when he’s in Nemesis form, has no fear of Mauga and just jumps into his backline and slaughters everyone…
I’m just going to say it, Winston is a character that should never be good.
They just stated buffed him into a disgusting state. It doesnt matter if you have incorrect cd usage now. And uf you do have correct cd usage you are absolutely overpowered.
Funny because hes been this way for a coupla seasons and yet we had people parroting how weak he was
he does 137 damage per pellet i dont know what youre talking about
thats per shot, pellets are the individual balls themselves when you fire a shotgun, he fires 20 pellets per shot
also he does 108 damage per shot, not 137
