The patch made the game super laggy.
Most of the time my CPU is capped while playing. During team fights it gets even worse.
Usually I like to listen to music from Youtube while playing, which apparently only takes about 8% of my cpu at 240p resolution for the videos. It also only takes about 1% of my gpu. Prior to the update it would peak at maybe 60-70%.
The game will pause, and the sound will stutter while it’s frozen.

I heard there was a pretty bad Windows Update that made OW unplayable for some. Dallas Fuels Taimou said something about it. Did you update recently?
My computer restarted 4 times last week from updates.
That might be the problem. I would try googling for help. And maybe consider (if nothing else helps) deleting the most recent update and go back to a build that worked. Do you have problems in other games or just OW?
I don’t have any problems while playing Tekken 7.
I would suggest trying out some other games. If they work fine, the problem is most likely Overwatch.
I set all the settings to low, and it does NOTHING TO THE GPU OR CPU USAGE AT ALLLL.
I noticed after windows update I no longer cap at 60fps and other media players start skipping randomly while playing. It’s really annoying.
They added in multi desktops and changed the sound controls all around which has been a nightmare using my external mixer since now it doesn’t route audio properly.
Most games I am now sitting at 40-58fps
Windows 10 Creators lag Solution:
I figured out the problem, it’s NOT the game itself. It’s Avast antivirus preventing windows from updating, causing the windows update to get stuck in an infinite loop.
Microsoft disabled the windows update, for those with avast, causing us all to sit in this laggy pre-purgatory version of windows, which by the way was the laggiest version to date.
This happened based on the May patches being potentially damaging to windows, if the may windows update was installed with Avast on the computer. The only way to fix this, is to remove the downloaded windows update files AFTER you remove Avast, then run windows update again. I am personally never installing Avast again after this, as this has been maybe the 20th incident I’ve had with it.
Simple Solution:
Uninstall your Avast antivirus, and follow this basic guide. Don’t download any suggested software from any retailer to fix this problem. This site i visited with Adblock Plus enabled, so be sure to be wary when loading any ads.
Once I fixed windows update, I updated a few times, and everything stopped lagging. I restored my graphics settings to my usual mix of medium and ultra, and nothing lags.
