Widowmaker commands too much space and is oppressive

I know, both of them are snipers.

Meh, it is more map dependent. However, when I get into queue I say a quick prayer to papa jeff that I get a widow main in my dps slot.

not going to lie, I would prefer a widow main than anyone else for my dps. Close second is an Ashe main.

When your dps can accomplish their goals without putting themselves in too much danger makes it much easier for me to tank or support.

To me letting her have 10 shots before reloading is ridiculous, she should only have maximum 3 before having to reload. Also give her glare so you know when she is scoping at full charge

You forgot the part where he says " AND DEY SAY AND DEY SAY"

You’re right, falloff could be a thing indeed.

There is plenty you can do against widow.

Widow is a high risk choice for the simple fact that she is all or nothing. She either has high positive or high negative.

I see nothing wrong with that.

I do think they could make a Buff/Nerf change without hurting Widow’s overrall effectiveness, here is what i think they should do, and to be frank i am a TF2 player so i will draw some things from Sniper.

Buff: Revert Widow’s charge rate for her scoped shots.

Nerf: A Laser Sight dot added to the position of the crosshair when aiming.

Reasoning: Widow’s problem is not that she can snipe the entire team, rather, my problem with her is the fact that she can kill people and they have no reaction time for it, the charge rate buff will allow her to keep her multi-shot capabilities, but will also allow the other team to be more reactionary.

I feel like her counters are still good enough to force her out of position if not outright. As long as Infra Sight isn’t active, Sombra’s Stealth allows her to sneak behind her long enough to line up a burst on a Widowmaker focused on the main fight.

OW is not supposed to feel like Counterstrike—it is supposed to be much more free-flowing and a really strong Widow turns the game into CS with cooldowns

Or the DPS that poke in front of it to fire, and get killed by an explosive attack that missed them, hit the shield, and killed them with the AOE

Yes,but CS doesn’t have hypermobility, barriers, healing or armor. Or like tanks in general. Let alone super mobile ones like D.Va and Ball.

And even then, what do you mean by “free flowing”? Free flowing as in,you can just run around and do whatever you want without any risk or??

a good widow maker turns the game from a six v six to a one v six and you’ve gotta kill their widow and hope enough resources and teammates are still alive to deal with the other 5. I hate the blue lady

To an extent, yes—in OW, smart movement is supposed to take precedence over peeking
A good widow makes all that OW specific stuff like Armor, Hypermobility and healing much less relevant—heals don’t matter to a one-shot—mobility doesn’t matter when they can hit a moving target, and armor doesn’t generally support an entire push—a good Widow changes the flow of the entire game—barriers are part of that slower, more grindy playstyle

TL:DR—A good Widow hurts dive a lot, slowing the game way down, making it more about peeking and barriers than about movement and cooldown management

That’s literally Valorant, and having played all 3, Widow is nowhere nearly as restrictive. The closest OW analogue would be 6v6 Ana paintball elimination. Widow is nowhere near that.

One of my guilty pleasures is peeking bad Widows on Zen and winning. Nothing even close to that is viable in those other games.

Widow changes the way the game is played from a fun team v team game to a “don’t stand anywhere in her LOS or you’re throwing” kind of game, it’s obnoxious that one player can have that much control over a map

“Healing doesn’t matter to a one shot”

Uuuh yeah? It’s supposed to counter healing.

“Mobility doesn’t matter when they can hit a moving target”

And how often does that happen exactly? Not everyone is freaking Kephrii or some other well known GM/T500 Widow player. The hero usually just gets destroyed by anyone with good mobility.

“A good Widow changes the flow of the entire game”

Again, and how often does that happen? Especially in lower ranks. Also, god forbid people get good at a hero after playing them for longer periods of time. Or are Widow and Hanzo players the only ones not allowed to get good?

“A good Widow hurts dive a lot”

Fun fact: Dive counters Widow and she was only played in it back in 2017-2018 or so because Moth Mercy enabled her.

Kinda unrelated, but I feel some people on these forums would have a really hard time if they played either CS or Valorant. Especially if they went in guns blazing all the time.

Just give her a laser trace whenever she’s scoped in, like Retribution Sniper has. This one change might even be worth reverting her last two nerfs.

Or revert some of her counters’ nerfs. Piledriver nerf, some DF nerfs, Sigma nerfs (barrier ones) etc.

But sometimes widow’s LOS takes up the entire path to the objective or even takes up the only path there is to go anywhere. Think havana first point. When she’s on that ledge my whole team has to stay in one of the rooms on the right or left to not be “out of position.” but once the payload gets past that left room there’s nowhere to go where widow can’t see you. It’s like i’m throwing if i’m just playing the game. Further sometimes widow’s los also takes up the area where her team is. So staying out of her LOS also puts her entire team out of my LOS. And then I’m practically not even playing the game cuz I can’t see anyone and can’t move to a position where I can see them cuz my head will get blown off and i’ll be throwing

Well, because I’ve never played any of those games to be honest
