bruh I am gen z also, ofc if someone compares something to something else thats bad, everyone will understand the joke. Its that the comparison either makes a problem like a balance change in a video game seem like the end of the world, or it pretty much undermines a differnet problem. I don’t think anyone here talking or the person itself intended for the joke to be harmful.
What I am trying to say is that you may not be trying to do it, but naturally comparing something like a minor annoyance to actual struggles kind of just ruins the actual value of that problem
