No, for real, not even f2p is confirmed to coming.
I suggest if you haven’t already to watch the Freedo discussion then comment on it if you haven’t. It makes sense. Equally, there is no clear indication F2P is even coming to OW… its all indirect speculation even with the discussion over the shareholders meeting.
What is a Freedo?
THere is no official words around no blizzard or activision, so no we not know if coming only qp or coming at all.
We know Activision want to take cod model to other games, so can be f2p or battle pass.
They talked of mobile but doubt will work with overwatch.
So we have only f2p and/or battlepass for overwatch.

F2P doesnt bring the “good players” that pay money and play properly, those go to other competitive games with better balance. Making it F2P is basically opening the gates to the “bottom feeders” and yes, I know how that sounds but thats the truth.
When you havent paid to have something, you have ZERO respect for it (its human nature) and in videogames, you add that to the fact that mostly F2P users are younger audience and its basically like throwing alcohol into a fire.

The game is already cheap if you check keys in different sites than Blizzard Store.
With the f2p on such a best-selling game, more cons that pros are on the table.
Pros: you can make friends play with you at no cost.
Cons:
Smurfs,
Cheaters,
Generally more trolls,
Which cause less and less enjoyment as a direct consequence
Not gonna lie, I abandoned every game that started as pay to play and shifted towards free to play model.
The game has gone low enough in price on repeated sales with multiple free to play timed events to draw people in. Considering that alt-accounts are a VERY prominent thing on this game, making those free would be quite the financial hit too.
The f2p model works well on games that need a high playercount like battle royale games. It destroyed csgo imo.
