Fun fact, the original name of the pride flag was the Rainbow flag and pride flag only became more of a recent name ever since the pride movement started making a huge appearance. So in fact if there was a wrong name, pride flag would be wronger than Rainbow Flag. Luckily they are both official names for the flag.
As someone who is part of the lgbtq+ community i totally agree with this! Being silent about it and adding a icon and just calling it “rainbow” doesn’t sit right with me.
It’s honestly super annoying when companies like blizzard say that they “care” so much about their fans and want everyone to feel loved etc and then to show that they end up doing this.
Like if you support us THEN SHOW IT and stop acting like you’re scared or something, then it looks like you’re just doing it for show. So many other games have added so much pride content so i do wonder on what side blizzard actually stands on?
I mean i am happy that they added a rainbow icon but come on blizzard! You could have done a better job honestly. Like adding more flags than just a rainbow, or add rainbow icons with the heroes faces on them.
Or just something! Something more than just a rainbow icon and calling it “rainbow”
I know china could play a big part of this whole issue, and ofc i don’t know ANYTHING about this whole deal with china works and all BUT if i were the owner or something i would say “who cares” and just add stuff.
Because doing what blizzard has done imo it shows how little they actually cares, maybe they do but it just doesn’t feel like it at all.
Its crazy how straight people arent aloud to have pride in themselves. Why was your post flagged.
Maybe… work with me here… they (Blizz) see the fact that a “Rainbow” is not limited to LGBTQ+ representation… and generically naming it allows to it be used as the user intends it… just because you lock onto a symbol doesn’t grant 100% lockdown trademark ownership… and I generally support LGBTQ±whatever, but sometimes, a rainbow… is just a rainbow…
Is tracer good representation?
Please don’t assume malice or that I’m saying tracer is good enough. I honestly want to know… is the mascot of the game being lesbian not a good representation of blizz’s stance on this topic?
I don’t mind it staying with the name rainbow, but its obvious that its a pride flag. I mean, people asked Blizzard for it and its pride month, that’s no coincidence. So yes a rainbow can mean many things and isn’t limited to LGBTQ+, but in this case it isn’t hard to realise its for pride. I suppose they kept it named ‘rainbow’ for anyone that just likes the look of the icon or if others attach different meanings that they find more important.
You’ve got your wires crossed and I’ll try to put it as simply as I can.
The rainbow icon is what you needed.
More c–p is what you want.
It’s okay to want more c–p. Everyone wants more c–p. But you don’t need more c–p.
So use the icon, because that’s the important part. The c–p is just c–p.
I mean skittles tells me differently
I can understand being disappointed there wasn’t…more. Yeah, there could be a bigger event here.
But using rainbow in quotations like it’s minimizing it and acting like there isn’t representation here is just baffling.
Yeah i do agree on that the rainbow doesn’t always have to do something with the lgbtq+ community and yeah it can be just a rainbow as well.
But the fact that it’s pride month and they decided to add a rainbow icon and also calling it “rainbow” is pretty strange since they (blizz) pretty much added the rainbow icon because of pride…
Like can’t you see how strange this situation is? I feel pretty sad and dissapointed for what they did and i wish they could have just named it pride instead.
the face of the franchise is a lesbian…literally the thing they put in front of all their merchandise and propaganda…
ive said it several times this week…the whole “lack of representation” thing is one of the most confusing things in the OW community
They should have had the rainbow from the start, it shouldn’t have taken this long to get it.
what exactly did you expect? do you want them to blow fanfares and throw a party because of a single icon? please.
you wanted a rainbow icon and now you have one, stop making this a bigger issue than it is. you’re making the community look like demanding crybabies.
it’s not like means only one thing. regardless the pride flag has been updated with the colors for POC and trans individuals so it’s kinda hard to
ye i guess
the rainbow supporting nhs in the UK doesn’t magically disprove what i said. it is a well established symbol for the lgbt community. unless you’re trying to argue against that specifically.
i never said i had an issue with what it’s called.
it’s just weird that they didn’t call it pride.
i don’t understand what you mean by this. going on the internet alone and you’ll eventually discover that fact, whether or not i say it’s pride month won’t change that.
blizz making a nondescript rainbow flag and adding it into the game with no announcement during pride month and not calling that said player icon pride is just weird planning. regardless it doesn’t bother me really, but criticism about it is valid.
Fun Fact: Pride is considered one of the 7 deadly sins, and the most serious one at that. “It is identified as believing that one is essentially better than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal self”
Not saying being LGBTQ+ is a sin or bad or anything. Just thought it was an fun fact. People can be whatever they want🤷
I mean this could also represent the associated Unicorn Peoples beyond even the Leprechaun People’s who originally owned this symbol. Cultural appropriation is not pretty…
My gripe is that it feels like it was something they had to hide and this sends the opposite message
It’s never enough with these types. Give them 2 miles and they ask for 200 more

They are not obligated to add it on the first place even if other companies are doing it.
What a snowflake, honestly.
If you go on parade how inclusive you are, you are valuing pride and so on and then don’t have the balls to turn words in to action, don’t be surprised if people feel betrayed
