Why the Orisa change in personality?

I know Orisa hase been redone completely, and I’m still not sure wheter I like these changes to her kit or absolutely hate them. In general I would say the abilities changes would work great… if we still had 2 tanks. But solo tanking as Orisa is gonna get really hard because she is still too slow, which was always her problem, but with the new kit even more.

But thats not what I wanted to say. WHAT’S WITH THAT ATTITUDE ORISA?
Why did they change her “personality”… or should I say programming (Efi has been a naughty girl)?

She used to be like this super polite virtual intelligence companion, that always used “Thank you” and “Please” even if the situation was and awkward one. Thats what made her funny. She also had a lot of cute and funny emotes and sprays which really complimated the character, especially in contrast with her hard tanking abilities. I used to think her personality was great and generally sunny even against all odds.

But now she is so aggresive. She almost uses bad language, she became sarcastic and snarky. I mean when I played her today she even used the word “Junk” after an elim. That’s like so TOXIC! What were the dev’s thinking when they changed her attitude into this stuck-up, unplesant and rude robot? It doesn’t suit her!

Didin’t she used to be some kind of guard or police officer in Numbani? Her superior abilities clashed well with the polite behaviour. Would you now say she conducts police brutality? xD
Is she going to rebel at her creator and become a sentient AI with a destructive tendency xD

And why do I keep hearing the italian “Amore’” when she ults  ?

She used to be. Now she’s joined New Overwatch and is helping them fight against far bigger threats. It makes sense that Efi would take away some of her initial innocence.

I’m sure it’ll make more sense in the campaign.

“Pade ayanmọ rẹ” which is Yoruba for “Meet your fate”

Perhaps you are right. But still the change in personality is not slight, it’s massive. She became self-important, belittleing her foes and even almost laughing at them. I think that’s a bit too much all at once… but maybe it will make sense in the campaign

And yes, I know she doesn’t say Amore actually, but thats what I and probably a lot of other people hear, as its generally fonetically similar :stuck_out_tongue:

Though I understand why they made the personality change to Orisa, I will miss her gentle nature.

Lore reasons aside, her new personality is fairly cold and mean. I find the stark contrast with her old personality to be off-putting and I don’t like it.

It’s because they reworked her from being a protective tank with a shield to an aggressive tank with a spear

OW1: Do you need a hug?

OW2: DO YOU NEED A HUG.

I believe there was a character change we’re not seeing because we have no story context to see the transition of the characters development.

Yes, putting lore aside too…
The real problem I see is that in OW1 her personality was truly funny and positive, which contributed nicely to the overall experience and chit-chat with other members of the team.

In OW2 it’s like she spent too much time on the internet or playing this game and became toxic, mirroring half the player base. Blizzard should not enforce this with such a drastic shift of a character simply because of those reasons.

The story has moved forward.

Orisa still runs on Vista.

This was inevitable.

She got tired of people complaining about double shield.

legit reason or not i find her new personality worse and less entertaining

i hate them myself. Sinply put the kit is actually very weak and too reliant on cooldowns to be useful and she doesn’t really shine in any field compared to other tanks. She can’t really deal with dps on a high ground and her team protection is weak and inconsistent and unlike other tanks like ball and doomfist she can’t really initiate the fight. She needs the enemy to come to her to be effective but doesn’t have something that forces them to approach her, be it a shield or long range threat.

Her primary fire had so many limitations it made no sense, she needs no falloff so she can suppression fire at a distance and force the enemy tea. to come closer to deal with her.

I can see her being used on Point defense map’s but other than those she’s gonna be a hard pick.

Shouldve just made new Orisa a new null sector tank character especially with the energy spear and offensive abilties.

Those null sector orisas with the energy dagger that killed reinhardts friend and scarred his eye. They definitely would use an energy spear.

I think the Orisa-Tracer interaction is funny, and the Orisa-Moira one understandable. But the rest of the harsh tone I’ve heard so far, yeah, it’s jarring and not what I liked about Orisa.

i agree with the sentiments here; with all of that reworking of abilities AND personality, they could’ve just made a completely new hero…

Some people say that is because Efi it’s been killed.

That actually would be awesome, your innocent cute hero changes her personality because of the hurt she feels having lost someone she loved.

But knowing how Overwatch lore goes? She became sassy because cool killers robots are cool nowadays, kids!

Because every female character in this game has to be strong independent woman apparently.
