This sounds spot on. I think both the life gripee and enemies would complain if it were something like 10 seconds.
In my experiences playing weavey….his kit is mostly a desing to save yes but to group up people. When you use life grip and that teammate is pulled near someone else on the team. One saves that grippes life and also the bubbling shield effect applies to both teammates.
Had it been any shorter, the amount of trolling that would be done with it could be astronomical. It’s already very annoying to get Life Gripped when you’re about to kill someone, but at least it can only happen once every 20 seconds. Imagine if that could happen once every 5 seconds. It only takes 1 salty Support player to start ruining the game for the entire team with such a cooldown.
It is probably just a fail safe to prevent harassment in-game. I guess you can already do it near the spawn, but not a lot of people are aware of that fact which means the developers definitely do not know about it.
For same reason you have ability to resurrect one person on longer cooldown, than ability to wipe out whole team.
You might want to freshen up those elementary school level math skills. Suzu has a 14 second cooldown and Amp has a 12 second cooldown. 2x14 = 28; 2x12 = 24. Even with amp, it’s not “almost”. It’s 20% shorter than double to cooldown.

I don’t know, seems like a complete mystery to me. Can’t be that it’s an easier to use version of Suzu without having any of the tiny amount of risk that Suzu has. It’s quite impressive that not only has Blizzard managed to one up themselves on dumb, 0 IQ massively teamfight saving abilities but people like you fail to understand why they have long cooldowns.
This character isn’t great. His cooldowns are toi long so he is borting to play and less effective than others supports. Kiriko is much more interresting.

So LW players actually have to think carefully about whether or not they need to save a teammate. If it was on a short CD players would just be getting pulled nonstop.
I would personally them add more utility to it.
Give him a cleanse on lifegrip and give his tree an AoE cleanse for the first pulse.
Suzu Nade and amp it up doesn’t negate a teammates bad positioning which costs games. Life grip is like Rez except better since you don’t risk your own life to save the teammate.
Deflect being strong is a meme. People calling something as simple as “blocking damage” and ultimate quality ability is a meme, too.
Due to its nature I doubt they’ll lower it, even though 15 secs would be fair imo. That being said, Life Grip should also cleanse the target and restore 50% of their max health to make it worth the 20 seconds. Nothing is worse than saving your team mate only to then have them die due to a DoT, Anti, or a bomb before you’re even able to heal them.
By comparison, Suzu cleanses, heals 50 Hp, and grants invulnerability in a 5m AoE…. on a 14 second cooldown.
I love LW and his kit has so much potential but idk how they went from creating Kiriko, an absolutely perfect support in every way, to creating arguably the weakest (albeit very fun) hero to ever launch. I’m sure he’ll be getting a lot of love soon though as this is a nightmare scenario for them lol.
