This thread is so wierd…espe ially the hate for how THEY GOT POPULAR god forbid they act the way that attracts the views lol
Because their hot and incorrect takes manage to get heroes nerfed. Heroes that a lot of people love to play. It’s not that hard.
Have you ever heard of entertainment? Literally any sports, TV, radio, even books? They provide the same things streamers do, entertainment for their targeted demographic.
Bingo!
/characterslol
I like streamers. I tend to watch Emongg, Flats, Harbleu, ML7, Space, and Super. I find them all entertaining and have even learned a few tips from watching them play that have helped me. Don’t worry about other people, just enjoy doing what you enjoy, and if that’s streaming then stream away.
No because artist, musicians, sports players have to put in years and years of hatd work to even make it, video game streamers dont, buy a computer, camera and game and you are streing, now if they had to put in as much time and physical effort into itvas musicians, artist, etc. then i could take streamers seriously
I find the amount of time invested irrelevant. Both are sources of entertainment. People enjoy being entertained, whether it by sports, music, movies, television, or online streams. I find myself consuming more online streaming content than anything else these days. I find it entertaining and see it as just as much of a contribution to society as anything else mentioned. To each their own I guess.
What kind of streamer doesn’t put in years of work to gain viewers, though? Who is that lucky?
And if enough people are watching and subscribing then they are clearly offering what a lot of the viewers want, right?
How is it any different than sitting behind a desk punching numbers into a computer all day making somebody else millions/billions of dollars?
Good for them doing something they love while getting paid to do it.
Emongg, Flats, and Mcgravy are the only exception.
Oh yes sitting on your rear playing a video game acting a certain way to get view is so much effort, playing video games is a past time and not a job, and i dont care how much money they make i willl nevervtake them serious, just like yourube stars, i dont take them serious, it is not a real job
The whole idea of these unequal parasocial relationships that just use gaming as a method of getting money from strangers is disturbing to me. Gaming culture is very strange these days.
Who cares how people get money so long as it’s legal?
Pounding away as a slave at a corporation is just soooooooo much better
They just jelly they can’t make money gaming
Think about that logic for a bit. Also not everything is about legality and / or money.
Totally agree. I find it all pretty bizarre, too, to be honest. I am mostly just perturbed by most of them, but fine to just accept that some people apparently are deriving enjoyment or entertainment from watching them just… spend a really long time doing a thing that, realistically, only contains about 10 minutes or less of actual worthwhile entertainment-- Like, say they were editing together an actual comedic video of worthwhile moments from when they did or were playing “X”… there would probably be legit 10 minutes or less of the entire broadcast worth including.
The Twitch stream is just, literally all the boring, mundane parts of stuff nobody normally would want to watch except, this time, people pay money for the privilege of watching it, even when they do not have to (it’s free)?
ALSO, these people will watch this for, like, 7 hours evert day with the I’mfanaticism and devotion of a religious cult member.
The streamers who go beyond just unsettling to actually infuriating are the ones who always go out of their way, constantly, to make points about how weird these people with parasocial attachments to people E-Famous entertainers are, basically criticizing and demeaning them as mentally sick or totally pathetic, while then continuing to knowingly broadcast themselves on Twitch every day for 12 hours doing literally nothing to exploited these exact same people they just mocked for unethical monetary gains. Bleh.
i dont hate streamers but i hate the cult following they get sometimes. its actually fascinating how thousands of people are smitten with A or B streamer and that everything he/she says is gospel. i guess people have hive mind tendencies and are susceptible to suggestion
EDIT: wait a sec… i have been a fan of the football team dallas cowboys most of my life so i guess i’m part of a cult too lol
