Why the complaints about echo?

She’s really badly made and also exemplifies the issues that Overwatch already has.

Not only does she require decent aiming, which shows the weaknesses of the crappy aim-mechanics, but she also has burst-damage which is another issue, while also having ‘press button for free self-rez’ on her ult.

It’s not all Echo’s fault, but her existence makes some real bad vibes. Remember that ‘power’ isn’t the only part of balance, skill-input is there too. A hero can be unplayable in Masters/GM and still be broken-OP. Cough cough Junkrat.

In lower ranks, her burst is too much of a tank buster in a game currently going full-on tank erasing.

In higher ranks, her burst takes a backseat to how utterly broken her ult can be.

People stopped complaining about echo because blizzard decided hanzo should have a turn at being the most broken hero in the game.

She’s just got an overtooled kit from the getgo, really. She’s hard to balance in a way that feels good to both player and enemy because instead of say three good things in her kit that you can build her balance around, she’s got like five. So it’s just a more difficult balance situation. Brig is like that as well.

I think she’s decently balanced and don’t complain about her normally but while asked to, she is another symptom of mobility creep and it’s so annoying I wish she wasn’t added to begin with. That and not being able to swap heroes when I’m copied.

I think that has to do with engine limitations. Her ult is “linked” to the person she copied as the source. If you swap and get rid of that source, it’ll likely break Echo.

I figured, but that doesn’t change the momentary annoyance. Let me do the basic thing I want to do, game.

Totally agree. It’s always frustrating at the end of games too where the most swaps happen.

Flankers? I mean, I can see Sombra, but don’t like all of them have a low effective range?

Yeah, I am not sure what that dude is talking about. Tracer being a hitscan can deal with flying heroes well enough, but genji/reaper/doomfist?

I can see rush comp countering pharmercy, just ignore them and roll over the other team, but flankers?

UUUUHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… no.

Yeah idk what that guy is on. Only flanker who can contest Pharmercy is Sombra. And even then, she usually has to be on high ground for hack to reach, or do a self sacrificing TP > EMP when they’re flying over a pit.

Usually it’s easier to do it with a traditional hitscan lol.

People complain about anything that can kill them. Particularly if said thing can kill them quickly.

Yzsna said that Tracer is the best hero to counter Pharmercy.

Mercy pocketing Phara leaves the other support/dps vulnerable and a good flanker/tracer can abuse that.

This puts a lot of pressure on Mercy/Phara because she has to decide whether she peels back.

That’s a fair analysis, but that’s definitely not a counter in the direct sense

If their team is able to deal with the Tracer without Pharah, then Tracer may as well not exist as far as Pharah is concerned

From my perspective as a tank player she has alot of bullshi!t that makes it hard to punish her. She hits junkrat levels of damage with greater mobility than a phrah, and an above average fire rate. Like some dps are good at multiple things but they are always punishable or have some weaknesses but echos mobility is literally free cam mode while she doubles as a tank buster. She also has an extra life in the form of her ultimate which on top of the insane damage from her kit can make her one of the best duelist in the game since she can always bail out of a bad senario. She isnt being picked 100 percent of the time but shes an example of terrible and over tuned hero design that blizzard keeps shoving out and is still a pain to play against. She isnt broken but that doesn’t mean she isnt poorly designed.

Because she’s a garbage character design built around instakilling people.

This. Yet ANOTHER thing that makes tanking frustrating as heck. Can’t wait for them to nerf all tank ults because of a broken DPS character’s ult, either.

it’s because she is a huge tank buster because of her damage and right click and the fact that she has very good mobility just tops on top of that, plus she can literally copy someone’s hero and get her ultimate 2x faster then them

I don’t hate her but her beam is a FU to tank.

What I way of saying “I don’t play Tanks”.

This is practically wrong, all supports can protect themselves and they usually play around their team (with a huge chance of Cass sitting next to them). Also of they mercy not AFK she would go to support her team when they need her.

In GM, tracer counters everything.

Echo is not Pharah, she has to land, and quite often.
