This statement is only applicable to maybe the top few percent of players (high masters and up). It’s also kind of a sad thing to say 
I like lifeweaver. So last season I played mostly lifeweaver, I got good at LW and had a positive win rate and went from plat 1 to M5 (I dropped from D2 at the start of the season on a CRAZY loss streak lol). You can play suboptimal characters and still perform.
Why would they swap to those heroes if Ana is just as strong as them but they’ve been playing Ana for longer and will be more skilled on her?
You seem to confusing balancing her with butchering her
