Why more Sombra nerfs?

Sombra is consistently a bottom 5 DPS win percentage hero. Why is the Dev Team pushing her skill expression even further down and making it harder to play her? I’m so sad playing my favorite hero. She has two useless perks right now. If they were going to nerf her, why couldn’t they at least give a small buff to 1 of her unused perks? Or 1 new perk? a 5% reduction in minor and major perks is completely worthless.

Please, Blizzard, I have been waiting since season 13 for a fun sombra again. I’m begging you to give us the old sombra back. If they were able to undo the Hog pigpen rework, can we get a fun version of Sombra that doesn’t have invisibility tied to the traslocator?

i find it funny that they nerfed sombra while shes down in the dumps stats wise

i guess we will have to wait and see what her rework is, sadly blizzard doesnt care enough to make her viable in the meantime

Its because a good sombra ruins the fun, its not about win/lose rates. sombra just straight up is not fun to play against when good. It feels like there is nothing you can do, you have to pay attention, but they can just lol bye once you turn to deal with them.

It wont always win, but its just a huge PITA, tracer you can track, learn her blink length, recall time, etc. sombra is just “i pressed a button to leave, sure it left a trail in the direction but glhf hitting me” They are trying to address that, but cant figure out how to do it. short of a complete rework i dont think you can, and supposedly a rework is incoming?

So…why did widowmaker get buffed in the same patch then without any nerfs??? Widow is more of a problem than Sombra, too. Especially at higher ranks.

I mean they nerfed Roadhog in to non-function for like a year while they created his rework that they reverted, so it’s not like there’s no precedent for outrageously unpopular heroes being treated like this.

nah there are plenty of ways to deal with widow, off angles and positioning can force her to play unsafe and flankers can take care of her. plenty of heros have ways to force her out from behind cover, etc. She can be annoying, especially if shes a good aim sure. but shes not just straight up unfun to play against like sombra is.

My theory is they nerfed her because of her ban rate but are too out of touch to realize she isn’t being banned because she’s too good. She’s banned because her hero kit is fundamentally broken. She needs a rework but honestly I have no idea what changes would fix her and I don’t know how you would change player perspective on her being so anti fun. I remember Sombra in OW1 and while I found she was annoying, I didn’t really mind playing against her or having her on my team. She’s just gotten so obnoxious I don’t want her in my games.

My complaint is why hasn’t the rework been released? It’s been teased for over a year. I know they want it to be “the final” rework, but jeez.

My guess is they still don’t know what to do with her.

I will say, I don’t think this nerf is the worst. Played a game or two, it doesn’t feel great, but it’s not terrible either. I do worry about my speed being changed randomly, though. I’m sure I’ll mess up my movement more because of it.

I am super grateful for the perk charge buff. Sombra needs it since she doesn’t usually do as much damage as other heroes.

i did one game with her before i played mercy and after that just quit playing since the keybind problem. with sombra ive always used default settings or i think for some reason it didnt change her … i cant crouch tho since the f keybind is messed up or something… heh

anyways… i hardly noticed the nerf. being a veteran player i dont think it won’t effect me much nevertheless it is a tiny nerf for veteran players and im sure it effects top ranks more

overall it just makes me more aggressive and i dont feel bad any more when annoying players. i just imagine them as forum whiners

I don’t think you’re being objective about this. You said:

There are far, far less ways to deal with a good Widowmaker than there are a good Sombra. When you play against a good Widowmaker, she legitimately becomes a lobby admin and you can’t interact with her. There are not “plenty of ways to deal with Widowmaker”.

There are plenty of ways to deal with Sombra, but she’s annoying. There are NOT plenty of ways to deal with Widowmaker, and she literally is stronger than Sombra and can influence a match far more than her.

So this is all moot.

In ranks where people are mildly completent - yes, Widowmaker is more unfun than Sombra.

I used to be a Sombra main a long time ago. I don’t know how some of you guys still play this hero. It’s beyond sad.

I genuinely think because the community is not loud & obnoxious- that they believe they can get away with keeping her as the worst character in the game every year.
