Why low ranks pplay lifeweaver?

apart from trolling which is the obvious reason.
he is just a mini healthpack on short cooldown. a bad version of mercy that is harder to play and easier to kill. zero damage, not even worth trying to shoot anything, no utility ( unless you like to troll people) and a budget trans for ult.

the hero is completely useless and only frustrates your teammates since the game will most likely be lost even after you swap. and you will swap if you want to win but its usually too late.

Not exactly a hard hero to use

He’s got design issues that keep him from being good…but for lower ranks he’s going to be easier to use than say a bap or ana

Can’t you ask that with any character? Like why should I use Mercy over Weave? I just love using him.

I like him despite that him being difficult and being an easily diveable. I feel like if you prioritize his kit especially his petal, he’s actually pretty great character.

all i hear is a rant with zero evidence to back it up

Fun.

Who would’ve thought? Not you, apparently.

Doesn’t look like anyone in bronze or silver are using him much. How low of a rank are we talking?

Because it doesn’t matter what you play in low rank.

Metal ranks are free where you can win with anything. And more importantly competitive, especially at the end of the season, doesn’t matter because no one really cares.

Competitive has been a meme mode for years.

Ow 2 just made it more obvious as it hasn’t innovated anything in that mode save a new made up rank for top 500 to grind.

This is a casual game pretending to be hardcore. Let those Lifeweavers cook.

With the way the devs balance inevitably he will be a Support they gigabuff to must pick meta one day as they have done with every hero on the roster

You need to understand that playing a hero because you like it is no longer a popular way to play. People would rather play the most meta characters and then talk about how these heroes they like can’t be played because they aren’t meta.

LW is a great hero if you want that mercy passive playstyle and sometimes it’s so fun to just chill in the backline and healbot and pull clutch plays with grip and platform and tree.

gold-plat. where mercy and moira are just the best choice by far. yet some people pick lw and i think i can count the times i won with lw on my team the past month. he is just so worse than mercy for these ranks that is mind blowing that someone would pick him.

Because you’ll never die. I’ve seen more games with 0 LW deaths than any other support in history.

Because he’s fun to play as, especially when your teammates are complaining about not being healed, so you swap to life weaver and start spamming them with life grip, show them all the time you’re constantly supporting them

Low ranks where his healing is most valuable? Like wdym :sob:

That is how it is now, unfortunately.

I think the problem is that not a lot of people know how to utilize his kit to play him well to bring in comp and he currently struggles against the dive meta. It’s really hard playing him now. I really want to play him well, bring something new to the table, ya know what I mean? :person_shrugging:

Probably because low ranks don’t realise how lethal he can be and also low ranks don’t have a concept of object permanence So when you petal up you basically cease to exist

His pickrate in gold is higher than anywhere else, though he’s still not that high compared to more-popular supports.

I’m in Silver 1, not sure if that’s TOO low for the sake of this conversation

But I play him because his particular playstyle and kit seems to click with me. And the playstyle you described in the OP is not it–

This right here is not at all how I play him

“Easier to kill” - I tend to have among the least deaths in the match, if not THE least

“Zero damage” - I have no trouble finding opportunities to deal damage, and in fact my average hero damage per 10 on him is 4,000+, and elims per 10 is 12+. Final blows per 10 are 2.5+. All while still having 10,000+ healing per 10

“No utility” - I can alter the battlefield itself. I can put people in places you would never expect them to start attacking from all of a sudden. I can create actual terrain on demand. I think that utility is plenty. And the enemy Zarya or Orisa had better know what they’re doing if they decide to try ulting in my presence

“Budget Trans for ult” - Zen’s ult doesn’t create a solid obstacle, which I can position anywhere I need it. Zen can’t stop people from walking through a doorway. Zen also can’t cancel his ult as soon as it’s finished fulfilling its purpose. Tree is incredibly flexible and versatile, on top of charging very quickly, especially if you know how to farm it

The only reason why my WR on Weaver in comp is under 50% is because of a SINGLE night of tilt-queuing, and not enough play time to balance it out yet. And I’ve gotten to the point where I have literally only one more win to go to bring it back up. As long as they don’t do anything to ruin his balance with Petal, next season is going to be different

Although he has an insane skill ceiling, probably the highest of any support, his skill floor isn’t that high.

At low ranks healing it’s crucial, so a form of healing with range and no aim needed equals automatic value.
