Problem with people like you os that yoy fail to realise that mercy has an easier time healing a flying hero but that doesnt mean shes the only one that cam do it. In OWL they even replaced pharmercy with pharyatta because turns out having 5 heroes on your geam is better than having 4,5 which is what pharmercy is.
A pharah that hovers in the air will easily be healed by most supports except for heroes like moira or bap, shes the problem because if you dont kill her, shell kill you. If you dont kill mercy, shell fly away from you
Or you know we just finally rework mercy instead of nerfing the 10th dps in order that has been hard pockted by mercy. Why does the pocket work? Oh right mercy can follow any hero around with zero punishment and provides a passive 55 hp/s. Nerf it! Simple as that, nerf the crap out of mercy. Nerf her for bad players and make her skill dependent but also move her away from providing 55 hp/s in practice and not only when you play perfectly.
Like it’s tiersome already. Have you played ash without mercy? Have you played Mcree without mercy? Have you played soldier without mercy? It’s night and day difference. What a joke.
Are you kidding me? Yes let’s dish out another nerf for mercy instead of doing the thing people have been actually asking for, i.e. lower pharah’s air time so ground-based heroes have a chance to interact with her.
It’s not like mercy hasn’t had her GA nerfed, her blue beam nerfed, her 1 attempt at giving her burst healing reverted the same season she got it, her support passive completely mucked… but no, we will complain that she’s not eating another nerf and falling on the sword for another DPS.
The mercy-hate-fueld delusions around here are getting ridiculous.
I have hundreds of hours on Pharah and she’s by far my most played DPS.
Pharah is not fine.
How they kept barrage as a suicide button for all these years is inexcusable. I don’t care how much damage it does, it’s a horrible design.
Then they keep adding characters and abilities that can put more and more pressure on Pharah without any changes to her mobility or durability.
The enemy can literally have an entire team of hitscan, and unlike other DPS, Pharah gets little to no benefit from a tank.
Furthermore, Pharah is forced to fly to get value, leaving her exposed with little cover in most scenarios.
Because of all this the only way to really get value is to be pocketed. And Mercy is the only support who can really do that.
This is a Pharah problem. She has extremely limited synergy with other teammates.
The fact she can only really get value with a Mercy is a massive disadvantage. Meanwhile, other DPS can benefit from a much wider variety of supports.
Forcing one of your supports to go Mercy to get value is a detriment to the rest of your team when they would have benefitted more from another support that didn’t have to babysit the Pharah.
Pharmercy is not even that good. A pocketed hitscan is far more effective and oppressive. Not only do they get all the benefits of a Mercy, but they also get cover, the ability to shoot from behind a tank, and a shorter TTK without the need to lead shots.
Yeah, especially that Mercies around gold/plat (me) have PTSD about playing with Pharah. Since most of them down here are pretty bad, leave Mercy out to dry and then flame for not pocketing when I walk back from spawn…
Reasons why Zen is not played as a “pocket support”:
Zen can’t significantly heal the pocketed dps. His orb is way easier to burst through.
Zen can’t ressurect the guy in case if he gets killed.
Zen requires LOS with the enemy making him more vulnerable when you really want to discord targets for your pocket dps
Zen requires to put a discord orb at the guy your pocket wants to shoot. Many times what your pocket dps can see isn’t what you see. Range is also an issue since his nerfs
Zen can’t escape easily when someone inevitably will want to shut you down for discording them constantly
Zen can’t follow you anywhere you go. He is slower than those Pharahs, Echos and can’t fly over the roofs. He can’t fly to the highground to pocket Ashe quickly either.
Should I continue or is this enough reasons why Zen is not the same? The biggest difference between damage boost and discord orb is that discord orb needs to be applied to the target. This means that Zen is in the control what her Ashe or whatever is supposed to be shooting at. With Mercy you just dmg boost and Ashe is free to do whatever she wants with it. No coordination required. And it even works on stuff like shields unlike orb.
And why Mercy vastly outperforms Zen as a pocket hero is how much survability she brings to the table. Most pocketed dps players are garbage without pocket. She enables semi-god mode and it’s tedious af to deal with that. I’ve been on both sides many times. Guy with pocket has it soooo easy.
Any support can follow around any character besides Pharah and just pocket them for more healing than Mercy does. Mercy is the only support that can follow a Pharah around.
i feel like changing her to be much more comfortable without a mercy is the correct way to address pharmercy though.
without a mercy, pharah really does struggle by herself as is, and with a mercy, she becomes this annoying pest (even though i don’t think it’s that bad).
this implies there’s a design issue with pharah, not mercy, and slight readjustments are actually great news for her (assuming they implement them well)
Mercy will never be nerfed, its clear by now blizzard will keep nerfing everyone else until dps are required to have a mercy in order to get any kills lol.
