in top 500, rezzing a tank in the middle of the enemy team gets you killed and flamed, in silver and gold, she gets to rez the tank whenever she pleases making fights last 3 times as long.
fighting someone who’s getting pocketed? annoying. it messes with how fast you’re used to dying to a hero, that 76 that killed you in 7 seconds? it now takes him 4.
lets say you manage to win the fight but have to back up because you almost died, guess what, thats the mercys duo, they get rezzed and instantly kill you
I hate rez with every fiber in my being, but because its not good in top 500 means its gonna stay forever
Mercy players attitudes dont help. they play one of the simplest heros and call it a skill issue when you cant kill her during rez, but they rely on their duo and their pistol that shoots literal log projectiles. crutch hero for bad players
and all im saying is, the only time ive been called slurs was by mercy players, so… not a great record for them in my experience

That realization that WBall and Mercy are very similar in their respective roles has me split to respecting Mercys more for being a low tier pick, but making her work.
At the same time I can’t help, but be envious that she does her role with such a skill floor gap compared to Ball in his role.
So I’m sort of a supporter on Mercy, but I will treat her as I do my main man Ball.

Thing is thats her design. Her tempo of healing is consistent, but it is lower than the highs of others. A fair trade off. She had a consistency curve before where her healing went between 45 and 67.5, (but the condition was bad) and it did not change mercy fundementally. 55hps consistently is what she has, but ana can without consistency shoot out 135 hps + 510 burst healing if she commits to it. Her high is way higher
Her healing numbers are high because other heroes simply can and do invest mroe resources in offense, which is worth it

Well most of the playerbase has issues versus sustainment.
Look at Hog and Mauga. They should be melting but aren’t.
I posted one time a tiktok of an AFK Orisa that was contesting a payload, but didn’t do a thing and never died just because both supports kept pumping heals at her.
And lets not mention rank play. The higher you go the more of the playerbase gets severely shoved aside with Diamond 1 rank only accounting for 10% of all players.
And I’m Diamond 1.
Also for the Mercys reading. I’ve learned how to hunt supports so much better now. Quite the learning curve. But its not an issue for me. Anymore. So I’ll give you that.

Mercy is hated simply because she is not a character designed for a fps but for the original MOBA component of the game which has disappeared over the years. Consequently there are two lines of thought on hating or loving Mercy:
- You hate her as a teammate because (objectively) there are situations in which it is not useful for the team to have less damage / utility output in that specific situation of the match;
- or you hate her as an enemy because she is too useful in frustrating the efforts of having killed an enemy;
in both cases it’s all part of the strategy, but it’s exacerbated by a specific tendency of the community mercy main: “I don’t want to play with a character who shoots”. obviously it only concerns those who practically never use the gun, and it is the most dangerous one to play because they completely lack the sense of adaptability with which one should play mercy. There are many examples of when Meryc is completely useless both as a boost and as a healer, and there come times when you have to react, not constantly run away.
the developers have attempted to give a new choice to this audience of players, but lifeweaver doesn’t work adequately because it doesn’t compensate for its almost total lack of offense with any type of damage boost. And that’s why he is hated almost as much as mercy, besides hce for having a lifesaver.
And then there is the worst community: the one that idolizes her as an untouchable deity because she is defenseless, without output damage - and this leads them to justify and defend her in an excessively toxic way on any nerfs or balances to her performance support.
1 part hero can be frustrating to play against, 1 part resentment towards specific players that makes people generalize all of them, 1 part sexism + homophobia

I think mercys issue of being hated, like symmetra is definitely the cringe perception over the actual hero gameplay flaws.
Symmetra is a great example of the same bias. Symmetra is exceptionally finnciky, versatile yet slow, easy to punish hero with everything needing delays so she is, despite having some free damage due to turrets, extremely fair, as nothing she does in unreactable and she is always putplayable. You can argue till your face is red, but symmetra was labeled cringe so she will always be bullcrap no skill unfair annoying hero. Even if realistically she is probably the most fair dps in the roster with evry little tomfoolery

Any dev who thought that LW was a hero that would appeal to Mercy players that play her because she is not offensive, but rather is centered around making others shine does not know the game at all. And does not understands what makes Mercy so popular amongst certain type of players!

I think to a lot of players, she ( like sombra and other heros) tick off ‘annoying’ boxes. But people also only focus on those instead of the bigger picture. For every Mercy that makes a dps a raid boss with 2 lives, theres 3 more doing jack all because she as a character doesn’t have much agency.

I’ve watched what trickster sent me + some other old videos and now it’s clear what that mercy raiding was. Just some sad, entitled gold-plat mercy mains crying for a rework. Kinda what is happening now with bring back 6v6 and the like.

% agree. I would argue she has the least amount of agency of all heroes on the ow roster. Its not close either imo.
Being fun to play makes up for a lot. Haven’t seen that mentioned much here either. There’s few other thrills in this game that compare to a hectic teamfight as a mercy, flying around trying to keep the team afloat while getting shot at from 5 directions. And surviving somehow.
Gloriously fun. To those whose playstyle is to enable, there’s few other comparisons across all fps games honestly, imo. Don’t hate, lets just have some fun, shall we?

Also, please don’t listen to them about “flags”. Mercy mains never flagged anything that wasn’t against the rules of the forums… All the post flagged were from haters that called us “brain dead e-girls” and such. It was clearly toxicity directed at certain players which is against the rules. Hence the flags…
This topic is not, it is legitimate question as to why Mercy is hated…
And you. You just asked a clarifying question about what Aria Rose did, since you didn’t know. Humbly asking for knowledge won’t net you flags…

look, im going to be honest with you…im not a super duper master aim monster who can 360 no scope everything in sight and can jump from rooftop to rooftop with laser pointer accuracy clicking heads all day every day…
im just an average joe…and sometimes, i just want to have a relaxing game or two, without having to worry about being all zippy and zappy…mercy fills that role for me 
though, i do like using her pistol…that thing actually has some good dps if you land shots consistently.
And yet she’s not the support with the most heals regardless of that.
She’s like 3-5 depending on rank. And even at the highest-she only has like a little less than 1000 separating her from Ana.
