Ignoring the fairly rude and unnecessary brain comment, “it’s very frustrating for a very large amount of players” to get one-shot by a sniper they couldn’t see/that is/was behind a shield. But the forums aren’t burning down with Widow/Hanzo threads, but there’s a Sombra thread or it’s on the recent posts literally every single day lately. Sombra doesn’t instakill, and she has enough counters.
All DPS in OW2 deserve to be lethal. Possibly even in OW1. What a shame Sombra isn’t guttered anymore, right? Like what is this complaint???
I keep asking these same people to design a way out of this issue, and they say stuff like “make the DPS hero a support”. What DPS main wants their hero reworked into a support??? Here’s where a brain comment goes. Speaking of, I find it hilarious that the counter to Sombra is to just self-peel, peel for others, stand in front of your supports, use teamwork, or ‘don’t stand there’ and people would rather light up the forums versus learn to play this team game as a team.
That’s what’s truly wild to me and something I might never understand. That kind of thing doesn’t even take mechanical aim. It’s like… something is destroying you and instead of learning and adjusting you’d rather whine about it along with everyone else who has the same idea. This is also not the same as a Widow sightline/one-shot problem.
That’s what I was getting at with my response, why are OW2 players like this? Mabe rose glasses, but it wasn’t this rampant in OW1.
It is a silence, not a stun, if you die within that time-frame of a silence, then again any other crowd control, abilities would have finished the job.
You are comparing Sombra to Sigma, in which they do not function the same in terms of crowd control. AGAIN, one stuns and the other silence.
So how is this a Sombra issue? If your tank refuses to play a non-brawl hero, then it is the fault of the team itself, not a Sombra issue. You can continue to play DIVE hero, but as you should know in here in higher ranks, we peel for each other in very high elo, so of course if you play a dive hero, and the enemy is getting counter, then counter-swap is a thing, not to mention peeling is a thing too.
In terms of the meta (Poke- Brawl-Dive) and the counter-swapping, again this is not just a Sombra issue.
I’m the opposite. I’m ok with losing abilities for one second, but EMP cannot be stopped in any way and makes you a sitting duck for several seconds upon its immediate activation. Its one of those really strong ultimates that you have no options but to die to and if you survive then you’re just lucky.
Not gonna lie, Sombra makes me have thoughts of purchasing wallhacks cheats that I turn on only to use on Sombra players and Sombra players only.
Obviously I wouldn’t do it… but god is the thought tempting because the coward can never beat me in a fair duel, it’s always hack and virus when I’m occupied and after I used a defensive cooldown or two.
Hack is one of the worst abilities in the game and not for the reasons you suggest.
First, along with the decloaking announcement, it is a massive warning to any target that a very predictable sequence of events is about to happen (Sombra is about to channel hack, throw virus, press M1 until they get hurt or secure a kill). Compared to tracer or genji just mag dumping/comboing the back of your head as the first indication that you’re being ganked, this is a huge trade-off with stealth. Essentially Sombra has a whole second telegraph of what she is doing, to whom, where no damage is done, she is revealed and is almost a mandatory thing for her to do because not hacking gimps her.
Secondly, 1 point of damage interrupts it. So it’s an ability that essentially can’t be used if anyone is even looking at Sombra, and might as well be a dice roll when used in a hectic teamfight.
Thirdly, the mathematics of hack aren’t all that great. Hack has a 0.65s cast time and, last time I checked (might have changed) a 0.3s recovery time. Total time to hack 0.95s. To lock someone out of their abilities for 1.5s. They can still shoot/use abilities during the channel and, of course, shoot while hacked. Sombra cannot do anything except move while channeling hack.
That’s a soft stun on yourself for a second to lock abilities for 1.5s. Just the CC angle.
The damage boost/virus interaction exist to make sure Sombra is always hacking and choosing not to or being unable to hack because of damage pressure virtually counters her.
Yeah, maybe I would care if magnetic grenade, javelin throw, rocket punch, accretion, and sleep dart didn’t all do the same thing but better and more annoying
By knocking her out of invisibility with spread weapons, chasing her down when she disengages to finish her off, and preventing her engages from getting value by peeling.
Yes, who likes just being hacked, or stunned, or slept, or booped, or hooked, or or or… if we follow this logic, we would be playing a game with water guns. Without water, of course, as someone might complain about getting wet.
