Why is everyone so mad?

And even if they are pushing that angle, it doesn’t diminish the fact that a new demographic of people are being represented in a videogame they enjoy.

I don’t think it would have been the main topic even if it was the first one to be added in the game.

I mean, nobody made a big fuss about doom when he was added as the first black person.

oh, don’t misunderstand me, i’m fine with the representation it brings and i’m ok with aknowledging it.
I’m just pointing out the reason they started pushing it so hard was to cover their asses

They didn’t NEED to do this today. Blizzard has a long history of waiting until they’re ready to do something before they do it, so why rush it?

But beyond that they posted a graphic on twitter explaining her abilities.

She has an energy gauge that charges with her primary fire, her secondary fire is a big ol’ blast that consumes the energy gauge, her orb thing is a damage over time ability that also slows down movement speed, her ultimate makes her energy charge on its own and her rail gun shots now pierce enemies.

That’s all information that could have been discussed and wasn’t. They HAVE stuff they’re ready to show, but just…didn’t.

Also, as for people complaining about the chat: trolls are obvious. Blizzard should have moderated the chat better, even disabling it if they had to.

This was an absolute cluster and they should be embarrassed.

Well, digging back into Overwatch lore, isn’t Pharah’s father native American? From one of the tribes that resides in Canada? Which would be rather cool if Sojourn was the one who introduced Ana to her future husband.

Or has that been retconned? They do that a lot around here.

Okay that got me chuckling.

Have a heart.

Theyre just showing us rehashes of what we’ve already seen/known about for 2 years. It’s a farcical situation

Remember how blizz promised how they would communicate with the community and give us more content?
Or does it only count if it’s the things you specifically want to see?

Beggars and choosers.

Lucio was the first black man…but okay.

You can make an inclusive, diverse, cast of characters, and not make that the sole focus as something to be applauded for. That just tells me you are trying to pull attention away from other more important aspects.

100% of the time, when the selling point is yelling as loudly as you can about how diverse and inclusive you are, your story telling sucks. Classic misdirection.

That is like saying pharah or symmetra is the 1st black woman in OW.

Except blizzard wasn’t doing any of that. Women of color that were happy that blizz was given them representation in the game were.

Kind of a difference.

Why? Lucio is black :man_shrugging:.

That stream was promoted by blizzard, so yeah, blizzard was doing exactly that.

And that is bad because…?

Because it was a waste of time, when it was being sold as a gameplay stream.

Well, to be fair, it was the hosts that were pushing that narrative more than the devs themselves.

Pharah and Symmetra are women of color, but they are not Black. Lucio is actually Black. Just because he’s not from Africa doesn’t mean he’s not? Just because Ana is from Egypt/Africa, doesn’t mean she is either.

It also said “and Community Q&A,” though, and that didn’t happen either. The host even took time to argue with the Twitch chat (the closest thing to community representatives available in this context) to essentially say that her questions were more important than theirs, instead of introducing their sentiments into the live discussion.

It was a gameplay TRAILER and Q&A stream.

They showed us the Trailer and then had a (albeit rather long winded) q&a.

What’s the problem?
