Why is echo a dps?!

Because the last dps hero we got was Ashe and that was one and half years ago. Last healer we got was bap who was only a year ago. Next hero will likely be support, maybe even the next few before OW2 will all be suppport.

I think the pace they release them now is perfectly fine, they let the game adjust to the new hero before releasing another.

They said there was only 1 hero release between ow2 reveal and launch, which is…Echo. So, no, we’re not getting any new supports until ow2. Hence why people are pissed.

It’s easier to add dps…

Tanks need:

  • Extra health estimated from character looks

  • CC ult

  • Self defense

Supports need:

  • New healing type

  • Mobility

  • Healing ult

We have 17 DPS, 8 tanks, and 7 supports. There should be a surge of tanks and supports added to the game before more DPS.

It should be lopsided in tank and support favor at this point.

Oh, didn’t know that they said that. That is understandable I guess but it doesn’t take away from the fact that the last new DPS was a lot longer ago than the last support and tank.

That’s the issue though. We don’t NEED more dps. If after 1.5 years the roster is still this bad. Then DPS could wait longer for a new hero. From what I hear DPS players have to wait a bunch anyway.

Not getting a hero last Blizzcon didn’t help either.

And with Echo being DPS that means 4 of the new heroes have been DPS. The same number as New supports heroes. While Tanks sit at 3

Not to mention that DPS also took Symmetra

Which means that it isn’t urgent that they do get their way or even relevant. That it doesn’t really matter that Tanks and Healers get what they want at all. Given human nature, if Blizzard shows that they don’t care there is a high chance that the others will as well. Nothing good will come from a game of who can care less; everyone is capable of leaving this game in the dust.

IMO having two many tanks in the game would make it the game needlessly complicated for someone who is trying to pick it up for the first time which would likely drive new people away from buying OW2 which is a big red flag for a game that has been slowly dying for a couple of years. I’m no expert but that’s just what I think.

People seemed to be pissed about Echo “looking” like a support but not being one.

Op asks how are they going to even out other roles with dps since dps being the most popular is the biggest problem in the game rn and you answer with this…
Genius…

This game is officially dead. Maybe there’s still a player base, but what ever the game used to be, it’s definitely not that anymore. The game absolutely did not need more damage.

Anyone who is painting this as “Blizzard doesn’t care or Blizzard hates supports”, needs to chill the hell out. It’s comical that with the history of this game that virtually anyone believes Blizzard plays favorites, maybe main tank players can claim this a bit just because of lack of variety. No one gets what they want in this game.

We’ve had metas where DPS were worthless and horrendously broken supports that took forever to actually see some semblance of balance. I can’t take it at all seriously that support players say Blizzard dislikes them when they’ve had the most broken(and easy to play) characters that this game has ever seen.

So if Echo was planned to be hero 32 2+ years ago let’s not paint this as some favoritism or hatred of players. This is a very unique mechanic and it’s the type of thing that makes the game interesting. I also don’t think this type of character or mechanic works either for the support role or the playerbase who flock to Moira/Mercy or do terribly with Ana. It would have been nice to get a support or tank, but we didn’t, and that decision isn’t about people not caring.

No…? I’ve seen more of people being made that blizz broke another promise (that the following 5 heroes would be supports and tanks after ashe), than simply mad that she looks like a support.

The roster is so imbalanced it’s not funny, that’s why most people are mad.

I can understand where you’re coming from, but this game has 32 characters with totally unique ability sets. This game is already complicated to hell and back. But with hero pools now also being a thing people often have less then that small amount of options. Tanks and supports are as critical as DPS, and allowing more options will encourage people to vary their roles. Like I sometimes play tank but only on one tank I like. If a new one came out I enjoyed, I’d probably swap over. Same goes for DPS flexing to support or tank.

As far as i’ve seen, people were disappointed because she looked like a support; therefore it meant she would be one. would’ve been better to not have high expectations.

However that’s just one side of the complaints, it’s also because of dps having more heroes.

Lmao getting sick to play Moira/Ana also.

I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the interview talking about the disproportionate amount of tanks and healers, and how they’re planning to fix that with coming hero releases.

What type of excuse is that? “it helps Mercy” you do know that’s one of her problems right? Too good with Pharah and awful on her own. I still love Echo despite this, but wow no.

Most players are DPS mains because most heroes are DPS. That’s exactly why we need more tanks and supports.
