I was wondering how long it was going to take to get to some overt right-wing talking points. The answer was 7 posts.
Yeah Iām pretty sure this is where everyone goes āspotted the alt-right nazyā, nevermind Iām an Asian immigrant who is basically liberal on most topics.
But like I said, perception is reality. Rip.
Oi, I donāt even HAVE a party. Iād say youāre worse than I as youāre dismissing me as you ASSUME I hold such beliefs.
You didnāt even refute the last argumentā¦
This is a boring conversation, full of slander, racism, generalization, and insult.
You got that right palā¦
What has this world come to!?
I didnāt address your argument because a discussion of the NRAās public relations and donation strategy is beyond the scope of this discussion.
I keep trying to center the discourse on why companies regulate consumer interaction, but keep getting pulled into individualsā gripes about the media and why the NRA is blameless.
Weāre still using Pepe as the main point hereā¦(I only used that as an example as to WHY companies/groups do this kind of thing that Blizzard is currently doing and why itās stupid. I donāt necessarily agree with the people Iām using as Examplesā¦Iām just using them as examples.)
Fact of the matter is: Heās ours until we give him away, heās not a racist symbol. (Certain forms of him areā¦the issue is weāre labeling ALL Pepes as evil.)
Again, you need to understand that corporations are not interested in wading through factional subtlety. Theyāre in it to make money, and theyāre not going to make money with controversial symbols floating around. This is reality, and contrary to what youāve been told it isnāt new.
it might have been a mistake? we really donāt know anything yall are kinda making a big deal out of it without much info.
I still think Blizzard/twitch should just remove OWL chat as a practice.
The more I think about it, the more I think it might actually work out.
Itāll piss off TONS of endemic twitch fans for sure, because they live off of that environment and interaction. But if Blizzardās end goal is to court mainstream viewers: the players/fans of OW who know little of twitch culture and even people who donāt play OW, who just enjoy watching the competition⦠maybe it isnāt such a bad thing.
Theyāll drive away a portion of the viewers for sure, but if they keep marketing the league as a mainstream sports-viewing package, more and more ānormiesā will come and fill the āseatsā so to speak. And those fans wonāt mind the lack of twitch chat.
Unfortunately youāre not wrongā¦for now.
Tbh, itās the PRINCIPLE of the matter. I cant care less about OWL honestly. Theyāve been censoring things for a while now and something this small would be likely to happen honestly.
oh noooooo homophobic remarks arenāt allowed boohoo the most recent ācensorshipā was a bit silly but yall are blowing it out of proportion
Cause twitch chat will do what twitch chat does which is spam the most offensive meme they can get away with.
So the first thing you do is strip out everything that can be offensive so the can only spam about harmless stuff like NA > EU
Great. āSuckā is now homophobic?
I guess if you think about it, it could be.
A better question is, why is Twitch chat so awful?
Forcing people to act like adults for something they want taken seriously
i mean it could be used in a way that is but i wasnāt talking about that
Oh. Ok nevermind then.
Comparing Pepe to the swastika is of course quite silly, and I donāt think they were trying to make a 1:1 comparison. What sucks is terrible people trying to take a silly, innocuous little thing like Pepe and ruin it with their political drivel, nā thatā¦kinda happened to a degree.
TL:DR - Pepeās a good frog, letās hope political twits on both sides of this moronic aisle start leaving him alone.
Good. Iām glad theyāre filtering out at least a small portion of the garbage that comes out of twitch chat. Itās a complete mess and itās just full of people trying to meme and be funny, but in reality itās just annoying.
